Tommy has never had a good hand in life. He's fourteen, staying with his shitty foster dad Phil and his foster brothers who only contribute to his spiral into drugs and self harm.
He's been counting down the days until he can finally go back upstate with his childhood friend Fundy and his old foster parent Eret.
Unfortunately though, he's made a deal with his case manager. If he can stay clean for two months, he can stay upstate forever. And staying clean involves a lot of self healing and emotional vulnerability.
Who said summers couldn't be fun and emotionally healing?

Wilbur supposed he was lucky in some way, to not be responsible for paying the medical bill, but now he was being taken to his first foster home in almost two years.
Techno's parents hadn't wanted him when he was a kid, and they didn't want him now. But his grandmother couldn't very well be his legal guardian from beyond the grave, so now he was in the system.
There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare.

Phil is married to the Empress, Kristin, the love of his life. He doesn't know when it became a norm for him to be kidnapped and held for ransom, etc., only for his beautiful wife to come crashing through the doors to rescue him. They both knew he could handle it but they wouldn't have it any other way. After all, it was a perfect excuse to get away from royal duties!
Phil didn't expect his latest kidnappers to be 3 children. He really didn't expect them to "take him back home" only find out their home is nothing but a cave with a dirt door. He definitely didn't expect them to claim to be his children the moment his wife came to "rescue" him. And he sure as hell didn't expect to become this attached to his kidnappers.Series
