Politics and faith are put to the test as soldiers and civilians love and lose and loathe each other in accordance with the whims of all-knowing old mechs in positions of power who conveniently die after deciding the war-torn future of their surviving heirs in prophecy, all to ensure the emergence of a final Prime who carries in his Spark a most terrible burden, the pinnacle puppet of fate. When Primus, their god-maker, suffers a half-death with no easy remedy, he can only speak in whispers to the orphans left to their own devices within the shell of his nourishing carcass. Even then, they struggle and strive, as the end is theirs, free of divine meddling, though it may be too little too late to assure survival, or a future worth surviving to see.
