This is the story where Eragon flees into the Spine as soon as he realises the Ra'zac are after him. He never meets Brom, and so his magic grows uncontained. Wild. He has learned how to survive. Now, he must travel to the ends of his earth to understand what it truly means to thrive.
Brom had always thought he would be able to retire and live peacefully - if not in luxury - in the small village of Carvahall, but when a crimson egg appears on his doorstep, he knows exactly what he has to do. Perhaps he will even usurp that cursed prophecy that has hung over him for so very long.
