Summary
Life was never kind to Xelqua Solidarity, kidnapped at the age of 8 with his younger brother, and cousin, and was declared dead when the so-called heroes raided the human experimentation lab years after they disappeared. Born with the power to create an astral form, able to leave his body at will, Xelqua was used as a toy for the Evolution labs, injected with experimental serums, given a power that wasn’t his. The downfall of the lab came with two angry villains. Grian scoffed, this was his story now.

Martin clings to Jon as they fall, clings to his bleeding lover as the roaring of the void and the screeching of the tapes drowns out any words either of them have. He clings to Jon and prays to whatever gods may exist that everything will end up alright.
Then he collapses onto cold linoleum, stumbling into a harsh metal filing cabinet. The roaring and screeching is gone, and the harsh silence makes his ears ring... or maybe that's the head wound.When he finally opens his eyes, he isn't sure what he expected to see, but its not the middle of the archives with Sasha and his younger self staring back at him.

Hermit’s Hollow was a quiet town where you learned to ignore whisperings of nonsense and the dull, persistent feeling of being watched before you learned to ride a bike. To call it pedestrian would be a great disservice to all the terrible oddities occupying it— folks and legends alike.
Not that Grian believed any of them, of course.

Jon was very sleep deprived as usual so he didn’t pay attention to the book as he took it out of the dusty box. “Ugh, Martin really needs to be better about dusting the cobwebs off these things before bringing them into my office.” No, he didn’t know it was necessarily Martin who brought it in here. But he was so very easy to blame for everything. He put the book on his desk and opened it. He was going to research the Web.
