Birthdays are stupid.
All they are is an excuse for people to act like the world revolves around them for an entire day. Clearly it does not, seeing as how we each get only one out of 365 days to ourselves. If you want to get technical, with the number of people on planet Earth at any given time, who knows how many people you share a birthday with? It's not even really a day just for you.
Birthdays are a stupid concept because on top of all of this, they are nothing more than a capitalistic ploy that single-handedly keeps party supply suppliers in business by having a “holiday” of which at least one is guaranteed to happen on each and every day of the year.
Despite his adamant disdain for the practice of celebrating something as mundane as the passage of time, which we all know to be an inevitable thing– Eddie’s birthday is on Halloween and he makes it everyone’s problem.
It’s October 31st and Eddie is twenty-two.

Summary

He's been keeping tabs on the Chicago Syndicate for years and has finally deemed Steve ready to take out their leader, The Sandman.
The only problem is that undercover agents have been able to turn up little to no information regarding The Sandman's identity. The only information the Guild has been able to dredge up is the name of one of their business fronts: a sophisticated private nightclub called Hellfire, and the name of its director, Syndicate member Eddie Munson.

“One, do not fucking kiss me,” Steve says, clicking on a lamp. The guy nods, taking off his jacket, throwing it on the floor as he stares at his mouth while he talks. “Two, this is a one time thing.”
The guy laughs, grabs onto Steve’s wrists, “that’s not going to be a problem.” “Because once you have me, you’ll want me again,” Steve oozes confidence, all babygirl and bratty. It’s so easy for him to be like this.
He scoffs, “oh please. Who do you think you are? Really?”
He tightens his grip on his wrists and pushes him against the wall. Fuck, okay, it’s going to happen right here.
Or
Steve sleeps around with low expectations and zero intentions for it ever meaning more. Until he meets a guy who makes him want to break all his own rules.
