Summary
Branzy thinks of himself as a normal guy, all things considered. Maybe a little eccentric, a little strategically reckless, sure, but normal.
And he's got a boyfriend who isn’t normal, who owns too many properties to be considered "grounded" and moves through the world a touch too intensely for most people to feel comfortable.
Branzy is relatively ordinary and Clown isn’t, and they love each other. It isn't a problem until it is. Maybe Branzy should've paid more attention to that.

The grave before him was simple—too simple for what Avid had been. A rough stone marker, etched with hasty runes to ward off scavengers, and a scattering of wildflowers pilfered from the forest edge. Poppies, mostly. Avid had liked red, hadn’t he? Or was that just Scott’s imagination filling in the blanks?
He wasn’t dead. Not really. Vampires didn’t die like that—staked in some dirty betrayal, body dumped. Avid was… misplaced. Hiding, maybe. Playing one of his foolish pranks.

"Well, what do we have here," Owen's voice pierced the silence, deceptively light with that ever-present undercurrent of menace, and sent a jolt of fear down Avid's spine. "A little bat, stuck in a cage."
He lowered himself with leonine grace onto his haunches, bringing himself down to Avid's eye level, and gazed at him through the bars. The white hair was still a shock, every time; so different from the nondescript dark-headed lumberjack who had teased him on his first day in Oakhurst. Red eyes narrowed at the corners, studying him like a particularly vexing puzzle. "Hello, Avid."

“Aw come on,” he drawls out. “Didn’t you take some nibbles from Pyro the other day?”
A moment of silence drew out between the two. Owen’s eyes widened as he realized what it was that Avid said.
“I am not talking about that with you.” He spat, sounding uncharacteristically flustered.
Avid let out another round of giggles, voice light. “I promise not to tell anyone! It can just be between you,” he placed a pointed finger on Owen’s chest causing the elder vampire to glare down at it. “And me!”

Summary
What if Avid didn't call Shelby out to the Obelisk in Episode 5? What if he thought he didn't deserve to be saved? What if he did invite someone to the Obelisk after all?
AKA
Avid is dying, he knows he is, has been for years. Scott's mentions of a cure through vampirism tempted him, but he didn't deserve it. He knows he won't live through the night, and goes out to the Obelisk for peace. But, he doesn't plan to die alone, and he only knows of one person who truly wants him dead.
Owen was left an odd message by Avid to meet him at the obelisk that night. Interested and slightly amused, he turns up expecting a trap. Instead, he is faced with a dying human who reminds him a bit too much of his final moments with Louis.
