Summary

Summary
This is the canon era with a single change: in this world, through skill and/or difficult circumstances, people can learn the magic of manipulating time and space by drawing maps. Colonial powers train their sea captains in cartography as science so they can claim territory, literally drawing over Indigenous geographies across the globe. Ed, aka Blackbeard, is the most skilled rogue cartographer in the Caribbean, famous for creating spaces on maps where sea creatures assist him in capturing and looting ships. One day, Ed hears about a new rogue cartographer - the Gentleman Pirate, whose piratical maps are full of whimsy and imagination that others lack. They meet and learn that, even across space and time, together they are stronger than any force that tries to tear them apart.

Summary
How do you write someone a last note? One that will be fitting for a death bed? One that expresses all your thoughts and feelings for them? But doesn’t seem too schmaltzy or ham-fisted?
Do you try to make them laugh? Remind them of the fun times when you lost your breath, clutched your side, fell to your knees from laughing so hard? But then will reading those stories make them laugh now, that once innocent breathlessness reminding both of you of how sick they really are?
Stede reaches out his shaking hand and places it on top of Ed's, rubbing the ring found there with his thumb. Ed’s breathing comes in ragged shakes, but he snorts at the touch and slowly blinks to look up at Stede. The corner of his eyes crinkle, so much warmth still in them.

Summary
Damage has been done. Serious damage. Physical, emotional, psychological. The unholy trinity of pain.
Ed has a great deal of healing to do. Physical, emotional, psychological. And, as much as he hates to admit it, he just can’t do that without at least some contact with the cause of it all: Stede fucking Bonnet.
As Ed’s scars slowly knit back together, and Stede gets the chance to darn the gaping holes he tore in Ed’s soul, the threads of their lives begin to weave into a skein of something new. Something potentially very fine.
And, who knows?
Maybe this time they’ll both be lucky. Maybe this time Stede will stay.

Ed was basically fine. His knee was killing him for sure and he was banged up a bit beyond that, but that was a pirate’s life for you. He’d thought once that he could give it up, but – whatever. In the past. The point was, it was nothing he couldn’t handle.
Stede, though. Stede was not fine. He hadn’t been fine in days, from the look of him, maybe weeks. Bruised, cut, his clothes hanging off him; his right arm was broken, and they were – he was lucky it was recent enough not to heal wrong.
While the two are still separated, Ed finds out that Stede is being held prisoner and joins with his crew to stage a rescue. They find that Stede is hurt and traumatized, and despite everything, Ed can't leave him. So he tries his best to look after the man who is, after all, the love of his life ...

With Stede's family in custody, his ex-wife under a death threat, the peace that Ed and Stede had found is finally shattered apart. And something is stirring in those depths, a desperation and darkness to do whatever it takes to save what is Stede's. The Kraken isn't the only creature stirring in the deep.

Ever since the scene of Stede pinning Doug with a knife and growling "unhand me or bleed" I really felt that little glimpse of darkness really needed to be properly explored. Buckle up for a ride.

Summary
The Inn was great. The Inn was wonderful. Ed and Stede could spend forever in their little shack on the edge of reality, staring blissfully into each other's eyes while running an ill-conceived bed and breakfast with few rooms and even fewer guests, and have no complaints. Well... almost no complaints.
Innkeeper could be a part time job, couldn't it?
Or, Ed and Stede occasionally un-retire. The results are mixed.

Summary
Stede gets a book about pirates from his brother-in-law. Inside, he finds a curious name—his name, Stede Bonnet. It's barely a mention, two measly paragraphs in a longer story about the legendary Blackbeard, with whom he apparently sailed for a time. That night, he dreams about Ed. He learns he already knows more than he'll find in any book.
And Ed? Ed dreams too. He dreams about drowning, mostly.
Until he sees Stede.
The title comes from my best girl Margaret Lanterman, AKA The Log Lady, in one of her iconic Twin Peaks episode intros: "The beautiful thing about treasure is that it exists. It exists to be found."

Summary
Ed and Stede find out they’re not as alone on their new island as they might have thought. This turns out to be a very good thing, especially when it becomes clear that pirate life is not quite done with the pair of them.
A 'season three' style what-if.
Ed nudges Stede’s arm suddenly, and points south. It takes Stede a moment, but he stares in surprise when he spots what Ed has. The presence of the ruined shack itself, standing along a scuffed sandy trail, should probably have been a clue — but Stede still manages to be startled by the sight of a small cluster of buildings on the eastern side of the bay.
“Guess it’s not so deserted after all,” Ed says.
Stede frowns a little. “Is that… okay, do you think?”
Ed shrugs. “Sure? I mean, we might need to go check it out, see what the vibe is.”
“Oh, if there’s people around the island – that could be customers for the inn!” Stede beams.

Summary
Therapy would say, this is temporary, Stede. When you’ve eaten something, and had some sleep, you’ll find this is temporary.
What therapy doesn’t help with is feeling like this now.
Therapy doesn’t stop the hot spikes at the back of his eyeballs, signalling tears that he isn’t even sure if he’s got the energy to shed. Therapy doesn’t stop the dull thud in his forehead that might mean dehydration, or exhaustion, or just that the car behind him in the never-ending traffic jam was a giant 4x4 with its LED headlights burning directly into Stede’s retinas for an hour.
