Summary
Tim Drake was a Talon in the Court of Owls. After the Court's first fall, he wandered Gotham for a few months before happening upon an almost dead Robin (Jason Todd). Batman took him in, and this story began years later after the supposed death of the Batman. Through a Red Robin-arc and other changes in his vigilante identity, Tim Drake reconciles who the Court bred him to be, who the Bat bred him to be, and who (or what) he actually was.

Tim blinked when the power abruptly went out, casting the room in darkness.
“Oh.”
There was a silence for a moment, before he noticed there was a faint luminescent glow, yet so very noticeable in the pitch black background.
“Is that a lamp? Where’s the light coming from?” Someone, probably Dick, questioned, before he realized, ‘oh, they’re talking about him’.
Sadly, his panic made his eyes widen, which only made the unnatural light even more conspicuous.
“Tim, is that–”
He blurted out the first thing that came to mind, “I ate a flashlight!”
His thoughts had wandered back to that really old meme where a person shook themselves, started glowing, and said, ‘I swallowed a flashlight’. God that was so stupid.
There was quite a noticeable silence, that only seemed to prolong his awaiting death sentence (when did he get so dramatic?).
Well, this has happened.
“But why would that make your eyes–”
First excuse coming to mind, go. “I have tapetum lucidum! Y-You know, the thing that makes cats eyes glow and lets them see better in the dark, haha—”

Well. That’s not entirely true. He remembers Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane.
He remembers back before Gotham had turned into hell on earth, before there were new crazies every other week, before the only emotion the entire population of Gotham felt was fear. Gotham was never perfect, but the Gotham Tim returned to was a far cry worse than the one he had left.
Although, Tim muses to himself, that was a good 50 years ago.
