Towards the end of his internship, he notices he's mostly just pencil-pushing so after a night of having too many drinks, he confronts them about the picture he found to figure out what's really going on behind closed doors. There are "experiments" and the word "determination" being thrown around, and while humans aren't something he shares animosity towards, his loyalty is going to be tested when he's tasked with working around a certain one in order to find the cure.
