Time was a fleeting concept, though he knew it to be of the essence in such a fatal scenario. He was only distantly aware of the stretching shadows beyond him, how they leaped further each time he managed to open his heavy eyes. Cotton spread in his mouth like a dry mold, stealing all of his saliva and any semblance of moisture from his body. Extreme waves of cold and heat fought in his body, burning his skin with the whiplash of the lack of blood and lying in a sunny opening.
He had to get up-- to go home-- and the prospect of all he would be missing out on in the failed promise of his longer life ached in his heart more than any of the physically sustained wounds.

Stan is tasked with venturing out to forage for medicinal herbs, he doesn't make it back to the kingdom. Not without help.

A cool breeze blows past the two as they walk down the path, lit up only by the large, silvery moon hanging in the sky. The thin branches of the willow trees that surround them sway with the wind, creating a melody that matches the tranquil atmosphere of the evening. A cicada bug sounds off in the distance, but it doesn’t seem to disturb the peacefulness, only adds another instrument to the song that is the night.

This was hell, and he was dying.
Kyle panted, tears pricking the corners of his eyes. A short cry left his lips, followed by a short series of whimpers. It was unintentional, but it wasn't as if anyone was here to hear it. He hiccuped, falling backward with his back against the side of the bathtub. His mouth tasted repulsive to him, and his entire body felt like it was caving in on itself. It was like a snake was tightening itself around his chest and legs, keeping his legs pressed to his chin. He let out soft sobs, sniffling and hiccuping his breaths for what felt like ages. Maybe it had been. His eyes burned. It was hard to tell if it was because of the bright lights, painful headache, or hot tears.

Suddenly, it seemed like Stan was shocked, as if a single glance at Kyle's tired face had surprised him. He kept talking before Kyle had a chance to respond. "I mean, he's just a dick all the time, y'know? So..." His voice trailed as he settled. Kyle stared up at him hesitantly, holding his fist lazily over his stomach as Stan continued on thoughtfully. "I mean, just... don't quit playing just because he's... him. I guess." Stan added quickly.
Kyle's face scrunched up. He pushed himself up from his pillow, shortly noting how his bones felt like they were aching from the inside out. "I didn't stop playing, I just felt sick." He rolled his eyes, tugging at the flaps of his ushanka to fasten it back into place over his haphazard hair.
