Summary
Fiyero and Glinda track Elphaba down after five years of separation. But has time forced them too far apart? Or do they still have a chance to rebuild a home together?
When the figures hunting her burst through the trees however, Elphaba felt her breath catch in her throat. Carefully, bracing herself on one of the branches near her, Elphaba leaned out to catch a better look. But she didn’t need one. She would have recognized them anywhere, even with the differences of time. That lazy slouch morphing into rigid posture. Those choreographed steps looking less than pristine.

Summary
“Aw, what happened? Bad day at the office?” He’s both very proud and very ashamed of the whiny voice that comes out of his mouth. “Did you suddenly realise your esteemed coworkers are a bunch of tossers?”
Aziraphale keeps looking at him in a way that makes him feel exposed even behind his sunglasses, and he doesn’t waver. He just… stares. No, glares. And he doesn’t move either, doesn’t even breathe properly.
The angel slowly wets his lips like he’s tasting a subpar chocolate mousse, tilts up his chin and says: “No,” like he’s stabbing the air with it.
Crowley laughs, a short, ugly thing that quickly turns sour in the back of his throat.
“Of course you didn’t.”---

Summary
Aziraphale heard the footsteps and scrape of the lock, which gave him a split second of warning before the door swung open. It was not enough time to prepare him. Perhaps no time would’ve been enough to prepare him. He’d thought to see Crowley as he always was, impeccably dressed, polished and impenetrable. Maybe even a little slurred with drink or sleep, if things had been really bad in the last month.
The Crowley in front of him was—there was no other word for it—soft. His hair was mussed in places, sticking up on one side. He wore no glasses, and there were wrinkles from bedsheets across the side of his face. His feet were bare, and he wore a silky black robe loosely tied across his hips, exposing a long V of skin that started above his navel and traveled tantalizingly up to his clavicles. Aziraphale was so transfixed by the sharp jut of that collarbone that he completely missed the dumbfounded expression on Crowley’s face.

Summary
He laid there awkwardly, half upright on his elbow and a question already forming on his lips when he felt Aziraphale’s hand come to rest against the side of his head. He was too stunned to resist the gentle pressure that guided his head down, the angle forcing him to relax his arms and lay flat against the couch as his head came to rest against the angel’s thigh.
“There now,” Aziraphale murmured softly above him, never removing his hand from Crowley’s head. “That’s better, wouldn’t you say? Actually–” The angel shifted minutely and Crowley braced his limbs to push upright-but Aziraphale hushed him gently, applying a touch more pressure against his skull. “No no, dear boy, you stay right where you are… lift your head just a touch, if you would?”
Crowley did as he was told, rolling his head upwards and resting his weight on his shoulder just long enough for Aziraphale to slide a pillow under his ear and guide him carefully back down.
He lay there for several minutes, feeling every inch of tension in his frame as he waited for it to stop, for Aziraphale to tell him to get up, to become tired of this, and of his neediness, his selfishness… but he didn’t.

Summary
Aziraphale’s face spun like cotton candy before him, mild confusion becoming downright shock. A blast of warm air spilled out, enveloping his frozen figure. His eyes stung with tears that hadn’t been there a few seconds ago.
“Merry Christmas,” Crowley croaked, feeling the words sour against his tongue. “Mind if I darken your doorstep for a while?”
His legs gave out before Aziraphale could respond, and he tripped forward, vision going black.

Summary
Aziraphale cannot just sit back and hope any longer; Crowley is too precious to him to allow any risk at all to his continued existence. The Metatron's offer was far too good to pass by, and even if Crowley refuses to see it, Aziraphale needs to take this chance to make Heaven into the place of light and good that it should be. Crowley will come around eventually, the angel knows that impetuosity was always one of his flaws.
But what of Aziraphale's flaws? Naivety, perhaps?

Summary
When he finally drifted off, he dreamt only of a burning bookshop and the end of the world.
Since then, the nightmares came nearly every night. Some nights were easier to forget than others, but it was the nights when he woke up with a scream still caught in his throat or drenched in another cold sweat that left him shaken for the rest of the day. It was far too inconvenient to go about one’s day replaying a terrible dream in one’s head, so after about two weeks, Crowley came up with a solution to his problem. Since sleeping seemed to be the cause of all his troubles at the moment, it was simple: he would just stop.
Of course, stopping one’s nearly-six-thousand-year routine was easier said than done. Demons didn’t need to sleep, that much was true, but Crowley had grown rather accustomed to it, and quitting was no easy feat. Nevertheless, he did his best to keep his head held high and his eyes wide open, with one goal in mind – avoid alerting Aziraphale to anything out of the ordinary.
This, of course, failed miserably.

Summary
It shouldn’t come as a surprise, really, but Aziraphale still stares at the demons gathered outside his bookshop with a mix of shock and utter displeasure.
If Crowley had taken the job with Hell, things might have been different. If Aziraphale had taken the job with Heaven, things might have been different. But neither of them had, and he finds it hard to really regret it. Hell - and Heaven, for that matter - want a war. There’s no telling whether any number of factors would have changed their mind, especially after the incident with the halo. They would not look kindly on that.
***
Hell returns to the bookshop. Aziraphale and Crowley stand their ground.

Summary
“Who was it you lost?" Aziraphale says softly. “When I was… ah, when I was looking for a body. You said you lost someone. Your best friend.”
Crowley stares. Whatever the expression on his face, it is evidently sufficiently outraged that it makes Aziraphale take half a step backwards. “Crowley…”
“You. Bleeding. Idiot,” Crowley grits out. "That was you."~ ~ ~
