Summary
In one universe, a ragtag team of maintenance bots change the course of a long war. In another, Optimus never becomes a space bridge technician, and Prowl never meets the space bridge crew.
Lonely wanderer, and stained by a crime he didn't commit, Prowl stumbles one day upon a friendly dock worker and his adopted child. Unused to the kindness they give him, he can't help but stay by their side, even if he knows happiness is a fleeting thing.
Optimus has buried his name, his past, his axe, so he could start anew and find a place to belong while forgetting about his scars. Yet the life he built is threatened to disappear when Cybertron is shaken to the core by treason.
In front of the upcoming storm, both of them have to choose between fleeing into safety, or fighting back at the risk of losing everything, including themselves.

The life of a Vehicon is—as they say—exciting and—as a given—short. XL-917 mostly expects to die when chucked through a definitely malfunctioning space bridge, especially when it immediately lands him in the middle of more Autobots than he's ever even seen. Also they're all kinda... off. Uglier than he remembers? All small and square and acting like they don't casually dismember Vehicons every week. He’s pretty sure someone was supposed to have cut him in half at this point—but given they haven’t, it’s probably going to be a bad day.
