Summary
Eddie Munson was almost killed trying to protect the town that hated his guts from some evil wizard thing during the spring break of 1986. He was prepared to die that day as he led all the demobats away from the trailer, trying to buy everyone else more time. He wasn't expecting Dustin Henderson to come back through the gate or to wake up in the hospital. And he sure as hell wasn't expect to fall in love with Steve Harrigton.
Steve Harrigton was the one to carry Eddie Munson out of the Upside Down after he almost died during the spring break of 1986. He was prepared for everything else that Vecna and the Upside Down was sure to throw at him and the rest of his friends, but he wasn't prepared to find Dustin Henderson kneeling over Eddie's body, crying out for the other man. He wasn't expecting for a warm feeling to start filling his chest as he helped take care of the metalhead in the hospital, and he sure as hell wasn't expecting to fall in love with Eddie Munson.

Summary
Steve looked over at Eddie during these moments and pictured his future rewritten. A future where instead of Nancy Wheeler or some other nice girl sitting passenger in their RV, Eddie Munson would be there. Eddie would be tucking kids into bed and reading them stories. Eddie would be making road-trip trail mix and packing a cooler with water bottles and juice boxes. Eddie as his life partner, the constant variable throughout anything. It no longer felt so scary to think about it. The fact that it wasn’t scary to think about in and of itself was scary but Steve has handled scary before.
