Warmth presses against his back. A hand neatly catches his pencil mid-air and twirls it away, then circles his wrist loosely. Another hand tugs on his hair gently but firmly, and Simon, caught off guard, lets it crane his neck backwards without protest.

He closes his eyes, feeling tension evaporate from his shoulders as he sinks into the familiar smell of rosewood and scented freshener, the warm lights painted on the back of his eyelids, the thrumming of the room's heater running under his feet.
