“Shut up.” It sometimes seemed that the only thing Ilya had been put on this earth to do was annoy Shane, and he excelled at this. Shane didn’t mind, not really.
Pausing the movie, Ilya looked over at him. “I will turn it off if you get too scared. Besides, I am russian, I will not let anything bad happen.”
“How does that correlate?” Shane was used to Ilya saying ludicrous things involving his Russian-ness, but he never fully understood why it was relevant.
“I am big scary russian, and very strong. I will scare away-“ He checked the back of the DVD case “Nicole Kidman’s ghosts.”
“Fine”…
Or; Shane and Ilya meet on the first day of 1st grade, and have been inseparable ever since. It then takes them a painfully long time to realise their feelings for each other. (The slowest of slowburn friends to lovers)

“I'm—” the mer sputtered, indignant anger coloring splotchy red up along his neck and cheeks, his finned ears fluttering in rage. “I'm a fucking Adult, you smug piece of shit!”
John felt him struggle a bit more in his arms, something he should most certainly not be able to do so soon, and so he tightened his limbs around him. They were too out in the open here, it gave too much opportunity for his prey to get away or maneuver around on him for another attack. Then something else could also come along and snatch him away from John. That just wouldn't do.

Summary
The power couple, Viktor and Jayce Talis, the inventors of the Sleipnir Drive, an engine that allows faster than light travel that completely revolutionized space travel itself. Are contracted out to a distant plant Hodr VI to repair a couple of their engines on the frozen planet along with assessing the new minerals the mining colony has found there. Unbeknownst to them a creeping wave of paranoia and nightmares has swept over the mining colony after they uncovered a strange rock. Soon they are in the thick of a new alien lifeform and faced with drastic means of survival. Jayce and Viktor face the consequences of choices, loss, and fear.

Viktor "A," the mage who transcended mortality, reached over and over through the expanse of the Arcane to find an end to the eternal cycle he and Jayce are bound to. The journey finally over, he watches as his own Jayce is freed from the suffering they've endured for far, far too long, and quietly awaits his turn.
It does not come. Clearly there is work still to do.
Lost and now without purpose for the first time in eons, Viktor turns his energy toward the first act of atonement that comes to mind: rescuing Jayce "C," a variant whose unique circumstances have left him trapped in his dead-end timeline for over a decade. Perhaps if he can find somewhere safe for this Jayce to exist, he will finally earn his own story's end.
If only it were that easy. Viktor A has made a terribly human miscalculation- he failed to consider that he and Jayce C may have different expectations when it comes to their 'temporary' arrangement.
