Ratchet's servos were taken from him and he's still struggling to come to terms with the fact that things are different now because of it.
Well, that and the very real threat that's still being held over him that his helm is next on that list, among those of the ones he holds dear.
He was starting to do a bit better regardless though, but now there's an Autobot prisoner in the Decepticon prison cells and on top of that, the Functionists seem to be making their move. What else could possibly go wrong?

When the end of the war came, it took quite some time for everyone to settle in. No one knew what to do with themselves and it was a hard transition for all.
When everyone finally did settle in, some say it happened well. A little too well.
There was a boom and not in the way you would think. The war had just ended, remember? No, the nature of this boom was very different.
One femme was however more than ready to step up to the plate. She just needs to gain the trust of the others first, which might be easier said than done.

The war had worn down every bolt and bearing in the Autobot ranks, and this sector – choked off from reinforcements, resources, and any semblance of morale – was breaking faster than he could patch it together. Command, in their infinite wisdom, had deemed this posting “strategic.” Ratchet suspected it had more to do with his reputation for “miracles” than any actual logistics. But miracles were in short supply these days, and every time he watched another spark flicker out under his hands, another voice go silent in the field reports, he wondered how much longer he could keep pretending that competence was enough to hold back the tide. Everything was unraveling, the whole front falling apart stitch by stitch, and all he had to offer was a sharp scalpel and the stubborn refusal to give up.

Summary
Chief Medical Officer Ratchet is an incredibly skilled doctor, a devoted soldier of the Autobot cause, and a loyal personal friend to Optimus Prime himself. The handful of Made To Order medics he's been asked to train at a new medical facility know just how lucky they are to learn from him.
But Ratchet never asked to be anyone's hero. Heroes are good people, and they certainly don't have complicated secrets like the ones he's been keeping.
Ratchet doesn't feel sure about much after millennia of devastating war with no end in sight, but he does know this: a real hero wouldn't let a Decepticon track him to a classified Autobot outpost, and he definitely wouldn't invite him in.
