Superman dies in an epic battle sacrificing his life to save the world and Lois finds out only weeks after that she is pregnant. Nine months later, a healthy baby girl is born and named Kara Joanne Kent. (I would write more but that would give it away.)
Kara's name is a combination of Kal (her father) and Lara (Kal's Mother) as well as paying omage to the late Jonathan Kent.

Lance is rescued from Galra captivity and the brutality of the prison guard known only as The Warden, but upon his return to Team Voltron and the Castle of Lions, not everything is returned to normal. Not only does he have to deal with the aftermath of his imprisonment, which he can't remember much of, but he also has to deal with the changes that have been made in his absence.
