Richard was a very quiet boy. Bruce had only heard him speak once, a quick, unintelligible word to Alfred that seemed to be a thank you. He had stumbled taking his first steps out of the juvenile detention center, and Alfred had swiftly rescued him from face-planting on cold concrete. After that, complete silence from the boy.

Timothy’s body was nothing but a byproduct of violence and death. The pit healed his wounds but left scars that burned worse. He was ugly, he knew, but it hardly bothered him. Ugly things were real and permanent. They marred the world, left their mark wherever they went. It was not his ugliness that unnerved him. It was his simplistic mind that he was ashamed of.
His body was broken but his mind was carved empty. He’d been brilliant once, he was sure. Sometimes Ra’s told him stories of his past intelligence, of the times when he called him Detective. Timothy listened to those stories with childish envy, unable to comprehend how the person Ra’s spoke of with such pride had been him.
Sometimes, he thought the Bat might love him. Then he would remember that he wasn't the one he looked at with such soft eyes and he'd think of the Tim that the Bat wanted with such visceral hatred that he scared himself.

Damian stumbled over his own feet, barely catching himself on the railing. He stared down at the darkness without seeing it as all his defenses failed him. He opened his mouth to rebuff him but all that came out was, "And you?"

Damian watched as the third presence dawned on Drake. His face crumpled, looking horribly miserable at the realization of his mistake. The needle went in for no more than a few seconds before Drake’s eyes rolled to the back of his head and he promptly passed out.
Damian reacted on instinct, moving to disarm the attacker. He was a strong weapon, even without his sword to aid him. The syringe was knocked out of the man’s grip with ease as Damian moved to leave him unconscious.
What he failed to calculate for was a second syringe.

Joker’s sinister chuckle following his statement made the hair on the back of Damian’s neck stand on edge. Out of all the Rogues in Gotham, the clown had always been his least favorite, and not only because of the heinous crimes and the lack of morality. The Joker was a sadistic man who enjoyed to toy with his prey before going in for the kill, akin to how feline predators hunt. The results were never pretty, especially when the man had no problem breaking his victims down physically and psychologically, in the most cruel way. Even Ra’s al Ghul had more ethics and respected a personal code.
The Joker was just that. Pure evil. And Damian, much like his family, did not like what they heard next.
“As a man with many hobbies, I fancy a good lottery game from time to time,” He said with concerning enthusiasm. With one click of his fingers, Joker’s goons came into view with a peculiar machine—with a big glass globe filled with colored tickets and a long turn handle for shuffling. “I promise you’re all going to love it.”
