Merlin, Prince of Dracaneard, only meant to go visit Camelot in secret so he could see the land of prophecy and meet his uncle. He really didn’t intend to save Prince Arthur’s life or be given a job as his manservant for the trouble.
But it’s a good way to get to know the prince who is prophesied to unite Albion and bring back magic by Merlin’s side, isn’t it? And it’s not as if Arthur knows that his newest servant is the crown prince to Camelot’s enemy.
Surely, this won’t turn ten shades of complicated all too soon.

Summary

Summary
In the wake of Uther's unexpected death, and Morgana's subsequent alliance with Odin, Arthur struggles with feeling unprepared to bear the mantle of King. Fearful for Camelot's future, he sees no choice but to swallow his distaste for Cenred and visit Essetir in order to seek an alliance with him. Arthur is utterly horrified when Cenred offers him a defiant, young prisoner, controlled by an iron collar, as 'entertainment' on the first night of his visit, an entertainment he is expected to enjoy. Arthur is frustrated and disheartened by Cenred’s crudeness and disrespect, but continues to visit, trying to win Cenred round. The only bright point in his visits is the intriguing young prisoner, with whom Arthur is forming an unexpectedly close bond, but one that risks being dangerous for both of them.

Arthur, himself, has been communicating through letters with a Druid named Emrys, who has been assisting him, and with whom Arthur has been forming a deeper connection than he had intended. He finds himself torn between Merlin and Emrys, developing feelings for them both and wondering how on earth he is supposed to reconcile them.
