Summary
It does mean missing out on things like barbeques and team dinners sometimes, but it’s not as if he would have been able to participate anyway. At this point in his life, risking someone not taking his allergies seriously would mean potentially missing games, which makes it unacceptable. Jackie always makes sure he has a dish or two that’s safe when he’s over at their house, but if he was going to be the one guy sitting and drinking ginger ale instead of taking part in sharing nachos or Korean barbeque or burgers or any other delicious thing he goes in knowing he can’t have anyway, there’s no point in making a fuss about it. He eats at home, has a drink with everyone else, and he calls it a day. Easy. Safe. Foolproof.
But also the reason it doesn’t occur to him that he hasn’t actually told Ilya about any of his allergies until it becomes immediately relevant five days into being at his cottage together.

Arthur currently had one arm slung under Deacons, supporting him just above the waist while his other arm gripped onto his cane with white knuckles. Deacon had been visibly injured before their fight even broke out and was worse off then him so he figured the least he could do was make sure he stood upright long enough not to bleed out.
Arthur’s body had a clear limit though, and it had been surpassed hours ago. He grunted as he half-dragged Deacon into the threshold of the motel, the hand on his cane shaking and his knees screaming at him that they would buckle at any moment. His cat, Void, had noticed this not too long ago and had stuck closely to his legs whilst the pair walked.

He would like to do anything but that. Looking at Scar now he can practically see the blood dribbling from the corner of his mouth, shadows playing tricks on his eyes whenever Scar so much as turns his head. His fingers are brands on Grian’s arm, and so he moves away, prying himself out from under his touch and gaze the best he can without shattering further. Scar doesn’t remember. There was no spark of familiarity when Grian asked about anything they’d built together. Only a thick layer of concern.
“I’m sorry,” Grian says on instinct, straightening up a little bit. His wings fold in naturally, and he fights for any semblance of control. Or at least to look a little less crazy. “I– it appears I just had a bad dream.”

It starts like this: Essek, in a fit of lonely idiocy, agrees to partake in a honeypot scheme with the Mighty Nein. It goes about as smoothly as he should have expected.
It evolves to this: by decree of Deirta Thelyss, Verin is tasked with protecting his brother and his brother’s friends(??) as they parlay with the Children of Malice over the diplomatic incident they caused. Verin remembers his brother being much more of an aloof douche and much less of a floating disaster.
Or: In a reality where the Mighty Nein do a stop in Xhorhas prior to meeting up with DeRogna, Essek agrees to help with one side quest and ends up with a lover, a brother, and a fight with a god.
