Let the dust settle.If you still feel like goin’ when the suns up, I won’t stand in your way,” Steve promised lowly. His father’s voice amid his mind urging him to add after a beat, “Though I will gut you with no hesitation. Yeah? If you decide to take advantage of my kindness.”
Steve’s eyes held the boy’s, and the boy’s eyes held Steve’s back.
“Truce, then?”
The young man nodded.
Then slowly placed his cold, trembling hand into Steve’s warm, calloused palm. A quiet shiver of relief and exhaustion flooding visibly through him as Steve helped the shivering creature to his feet. “Easy now,” Steve murmured, guiding him slowly toward the door, mindful of every shaking step. “You’ll be alright. I—I’ll make sure you’re alright.”

Someone popped open the trunk.
For a long moment, Taehyung simply stared. Unblinking. Unmoving. His brain, unhelpfully, short-circuited. The man staring back at him was handsome—annoyingly so. Dark hair, slicked back with precision. Sharp cheekbones, soft mouth. A face that looked like it belonged on a billboard, not gaping into the trunk of a car.
Taehyung lifted a hand—an awkward wave. The man didn’t react. He just blinked down at Taehyung, slow and measured. Then, wordlessly, he shut the trunk once more.
“Jimin,” a voice croaked. “There’s a dude in your trunk.”
Or, Kim Taehyung accidentally kidnaps himself and decides to make it everyone else's problem.

Taehyung sank into a slow kneel before them, every movement deliberate, calculated, yet uncoordinated and shaky. The agony radiating from his joints was excruciating, but he performed it without outwardly displaying the anguish in his body. His gaze never left theirs, and yet it was a gaze that seemed to pierce through them, cold and resigned. Taehyung sat in front of them. Shivering like a dog. It was with the slightest tilt of his head that he exposed his throat, bitten raw and swollen.
A hoarse, desperate whisper escaped his lips, barely audible but heavy with fear. "Please... don’t kill me."

It didn't help that his student was screaming his name so loudly, the audio cracked through the projection screen, or that All Might was six seconds from breaking down next to him. The Shadowlands were the worst for so many reasons. The sun was gone, there was nothing to eat, and it was absolutely freezing. Astarion was used to the cold, with 200 years of vampirism under his belt. The lack of a normal circulatory system meant his body couldn't regulate temperature the same way living creatures did. A vampire could be frozen stiff in minutes before they’ve even noticed there was a problem. He could attest to that. And no additions of hats and scarves made a bit of difference - if there was no heat in the first place for the clothing to keep in.
It really was bitterly cold.

The words were spoken calmly, while Bucky kept his eyes locked onto the gangly form prostrate in the dirt outside. When he’d spotted it in a casual pass of the window, he’d experienced shock for all of half a second before he’d quickly transitioned into acceptance and wariness.
He stepped back from the window as Steve rushed up, a damp blue dish towel in his hands. Steve’s eyes immediately narrowed in on the form that was face down by the tomato plants. It was a good sign that Bucky wasn’t hallucinating, and a bad sign in that it meant the corpse in the garden was real.
Steve gave Bucky a look, the corners of his mouth sternly downturned.
“I didn’t put it there,” Bucky said, just in case that was in question.
