Liam never had the Rookie experience.
It's a little fact he hardly thinks about truth be told, a small thing that only sometimes nags at the back of his mind, something so small, so irrelevant he feels a little embarrassed to even acknowledge at all most of the time, let alone allow himself to feel anything regarding it.
F1 is fast. F1 is unpredictable. F1 is harsh.
At least that was his experience: Liam wasn't taught how to navigate it, he was one of those kids who learned how to swim by being thrown on the deep end while the adults around watched with vague interest, not overly worried about the possibility of him sinking because they had other kids waiting by the shore.
He didn't know things could be different, but oh how clearly he saw that they could.
Just not for him.
Or: 5 times Liam didn't think he mattered as much to Max and the Rookies and the ensuing crash outs they had over it.

Prompt:
The world runs on platonic soulmate bonds. Trios are nearly as common as pairs, and sometimes you can get quartet bonds. What makes Oscar's platonic bond with Charles and Max unique is that Max and Charles aren't also platonic soulmates.
The universe just knows they're meant to be something else. It wouldn't dare bind them with friendship and risk them never seeing their potential for romance! But of course this thought doesn't occur to either of them, despite them really being confused about why they're not a full, true trio bond. (Oscar knows. He's suffering and doomed to permanently third wheel.)
The soulmate-ism can show however you want. Tattoos/marks, shared emotions/thoughts, shared pain, etc.
Shared pain/emotions is my personal favourite, because then we can have Max and Charles bonding time over trying to keep Oscar from dying (food poisoning x #I lost count, Broken rib, regular illness, heat stroke- thanks qatar, etc) and/or losing his shit and then Oscar can be mad at them both when they crash each other because That extra hurts, gdi!
