Even though Mumbo would rather not share everything about his unsatisfactory childhood, Impulse finds himself coming to rather upsetting conclusions about his friend. What happens when his assumptions turn out to be right, and Mumbo's childhood is even worse than any of the Boatem members could've thought?

He supposed he shouldn’t blame them; he had been a mercenary once, a sword-for-hire. The Blade, they had called him. He had measured time with his scars and killed without mercy. For a while, that was fine.
Or the one where Techno tries to run from his past, but he finds a kid that's just a little bit too much like him and decides to take him in.

Summary
This wasn't what Xisuma intended when he banned Evil X two years ago. But intentions aside, Ex has been trapped in the Backrooms for years now, an endless labyrinth of liminal spaces where time and space don't work right, moments of mental stability are few and far between, and, oh yeah! Can't forget the evil beasts.
Though Ex has managed to cling to their life and remaining sense of self for this long, they may not be able to make it much longer before they get killed or go insane. But there's no sure way to escape the Backrooms, and Ex certainly isn't going to get out on their own.
