In other words, they have been kidnapped, and are forced to watch random videos from their IRL selves to solve puzzles to go back home. However, when the YouTube server crashes they have only so much time left before they all die, and what was once a confusing and frustrating game has turned into life or death.

He glanced up again, and this time his eyes caught on the TV playing in the corner of the cafe. The volume was turned down, but Wilbur read the headline and found himself forgetting all about the drawings on Tommy’s jacket.
Coven cleared of all legal suspicion for recent Turning
The captions were on for the TV, and while they weren’t very accurate, Wilbur tried to read what the newscaster was saying anyway.
”The Turning was ruled by a judge to be an act of the Good Samaritan Law, and no criminal charges will be brought to the vampire or his coven as a whole.”
or, vampires and humans have coexisted for over a century now, each minding their own business. Frankly, Wilbur barely knows anything about vampires, and he likes it that way. All that matters to him is his bookstore job, his motorcycle, and his best friend, Tommy. It's not like he has any reason to get involved in the world of the undead. That's not his problem.
At least until the undead start knocking on his door, telling him that Tommy is somehow far more involved in the world of vampires than Wilbur could've ever guessed. Then it becomes his problem.

Being revived was worse than anything he’s been through since things first went to shit. He can’t imagine how much worse it would be a second time let alone again and again and again and-
“I’m going to send you somewhere else,” Kristen responds. “Somewhere you can heal and be happy.”
“Does a place like that even exist?” Tommy used to think that was possible. That he could find somewhere to heal from everything he’s been through where he could learn how to be happy again, but now that hope has been smothered to death and buried below bedrock. He’s tried over and over again to move on and heal and be happy, all he wants is to be happy, but the world has continued to fuck him over again and again and he’s lost hope.

He was young, too young to be passed out alone in a rainy alley. His blonde hair was darkened by water and streaks that must have been blood if his batter face was anything to go by. His skin was pale and his body trembled slightly, even in unconsciousness.
Whisper moved side by side with his partner, pulling out first aid supplies and searching for major injuries. “You know this kid?” he asked.

Summary
Tommy opens his eyes slowly, just barely, he feels the hard surface he’s lying on, the sun shining into his eyes, blinding him, and he could faintly hear someone speaking to him.
“Are you alright?” A voice asks, “Kid? Are you okay?! NIKI! CALL 911!”
Tommy closes his eyes, his head hurt. Why did death have to be so noisy? He thought as he drifted out of consciousness.

Stanley has reciprocated these feelings for a long time but always found himself conflicted about them. When The Narrator's love for him is shoved in his face, he has to make a decision.

Tommy's called Blindspot for a reason. He’s not invisible, as he’s reminded Dream time and time again - people can definitely see him. They just don’t notice. He blends into plain sight, totally diverting all attention like water off of a duck.
Usually, anyway. Orpheus, however, stiffens a little as Tommy draws nearer. He starts glancing around, as if struck by sudden paranoia. Tommy draws up in front of him, staff clenched in one hand, and Orpheus starts turning as if to check behind him.
“What’s that,” Orpheus mutters. “Who’s there-“
Tommy pulls his staff back and slams it into Orpheus’s stomach, hard.
Orpheus stumbles. He wheezes, choking, and then looks up at Tommy and fixes him with a burning stare.
“Who the fuck are you,” Orpheus says, eyes wild and oddly delighted. “Where were you hiding?”

Suspected of betraying the Hero Guild, Apprentice hero Tommy (A.K.A. Blindspot) is put under Security Protocol Catbag: a locked-on noise cancelling mask equipped with truth gas. His mentor, Dream, calls it a necessary teaching tool.
Meanwhile, SBI wants to know why their least favorite loudmouth little Hero has suddenly stopped talking.

“Of course,” Acumen begins, looking at Tommy in a way he can’t perceive, “I wouldn’t let anything happen to you, sunshine.” With the statement, teeth are bared, and Tommy gets the sense that there’s more to those words than meets to eye.
“What about all the people you’ve driven to the edge of madness? Who can’t make sense of the world around them.” Tommy countered, fighting his own instincts, he didn’t trust Acumen, he didn’t.
“They weren’t you. You and your little friends are different, you’re just like me.” Acumen drew out the last few words, seeming to stare straight through Tommy.
“You’re right, we’re all broken, twisted murderers, just like you.” Tommy finally replied, meeting Acumen’s dark gaze with a grin.

He shook his head furiously, choked sobs forcing their way out of his mouth as he shuffled backwards, hands scrabbling on the gravel and cutting into his palms. He didn’t notice the pain, too hopped up on adrenaline and fear to recognise it.
Without his permission, a chirp managed to escape, almost masked by his cries and incomprehensible pleading.
Almost masked.
Zephyrus paused in his approach, tensing at the sound and staring at Tommy, straightening up to his full height.
Tommy’s breathing became more frantic with the realisation that the man had heard. He knew now. That wasn’t good, that wasn’t safe. They were going to hurt him, they were going to kill him, Tommy didn’t want to die.
A coo reached his ears, the sound dancing on the wind. Safe-calm-protected.
Or
Tommy is an avian hybrid training to be a hero. A wrench is thrown into his plans when he meets the Syndicate leader Zephyrus, and for some reason, his instincts seem to adore him. The feeling is mutual, so now Tommy has to try and live life while yearning for a family of supervillains that are actively trying to kidnap him.

Summary
Techno's eyes portrayed something strangely familiar.
He wasn’t looking at him in malice. He did not point at Tommy and laugh, unlike how some of the other hunters had. Barely able to contain their anticipation at the sight of the ticking clock and Tommy’s collection of wrong answers.
No, Techno’s eyes refused to leave his own. Ember red carving molded shapes of themselves into petrified blue, and Tommy could finally place where he’d seen that look before.
It hung off of every street kid in The Pit. Dripped from drugged faces in dingy alleyways at night. He’d seen that look on his very own face, in the harsher of winters or when the lottery grain inevitably ran dry.
Techno’s eyes read that of raw want.
And they were currently fixated on Tommy.
OR:
An altered AU of the hunger games, in which the all powerful Empire hosts the annual Hunt.
An event where teen nobles chase down the unfortunate participants to either claim or sadistically kill.
When Tommy volunteers in place of his best friend, he’s determined to not die off without a fight.
