Summary
In all honesty, the sight isn’t as gory as it could be. A bonus of the Red Robin suit is its focus on red, 90% of the rest being black. The steadily growing patch of crimson blends in wonderfully, sparing Alfred the headache of trying to get the stain out like it would with Dick’s suit.
He, however, will have to stitch the sizeable tear that slices across the front of it.
Well, and also stitch the gaping wound that sits beneath that tear.

Jayce sat in the lab, tinkering with their latest invention, completely focused like his surroundings had disappeared. He hadn’t heard the door open and the two sets of footsteps, and the tap of a cane, heading towards him.

He'd almost believed he'd never feel the rain again. Let alone the creeping heat of the sun against his back. It was hard to imagine what had kept him going now that he was face down against the pavement. Overgrown moss clinging to his flush cheeks. Body relaxing as if a weight had been slung off his shoulders. A whole world left down below him, a life he had quickly forsaken the minute he clawed to the surface. He had found the will within himself to believe he could survive. Yet deep down he knew exactly what had kept him alive.
Viktor would've believed in him. Just as he did all those years ago. As Jayce still tragically believed in Viktor. And maybe that’s all that really carried him from the depths. Even if that’s what also sent him there.

Jayce has a lot of time to rectify his feelings down in the cavern beneath a desolate Piltover, Viktor being the forefront of said feelings. Or Jayce reflects on the times he spent with Viktor. Jayce makes him a new crutch :)

“The guy,” Ekko hisses. “The one you guys robbed. He’s here, he’s staying at Benzo’s!”
Claggor goes pale. “We have to tell Vi,” he says.
They tell Vi. And Vi tells Vander. And Vander goes and talks to Benzo.

Jayce is on the ledge, suicide note and bracelet behind him, when he decides not to step off and rather find solitude in the undercity. He asks for a place to stay at Benzo’s, later ending up at Vander’s, and finds a place for himself in Zaun.
Topside, his mother and Cait grieve Jayce’s death. Viktor falls in love with a dead man through the notes he left behind, the stories told by those who loved him, and when Mel Medarda asks him to continue said man’s research, he accepts.
Things change. Vander and the kids never die or get separated, Powder never becomes Jinx, and Jayce becomes an older sibling figure to the people that ruined his life.
Viktor and Mel get close. Viktor and Caitlyn get close. Viktor becomes the new man of progress.
Silco continues to ravage the undercity with Shimmer, something the firelights (now including the kids) actively try to stop.
Then Viktor goes down to the undercity with Cait to find a mysterious helper in the Last Drop and realize Jayce never died.

The winter has always been rather hard on Viktor.
Yes, the snow and frost bite into his fingers, and his cane slips on ice-slick ground, and he has to walk even slower than usual, and yes it seems as though he is permanently in a state of hypothermia, but truthfully there is even a permanent chill in the tips of Viktor’s fingers in the height of summer, and truthfully Viktor knows physical discomfort well— there is more than that. There is a yearly, omnipresent reminder of the state of his heritage, his family, of his isolation— a cruel, city-wide boast of a warmth Viktor was not lucky enough to be born into. There is the winter holiday.
This year is much the same— a permeating chill seeping into every space he can find, lights and posters and songs celebrating something he has never had and may never have, a dorm room that is barren of Christmas and almost worse than the celebrations beyond his windowsill. This year is much the same, except for one thing. This year, there is Jayce.

Jayce frowns. The family resemblance is obvious, but Viktor never mentioned that he had a brother. “Did Viktor bring you here?”

Due to a failed experiment, Viktor is turned into a child. Suddenly on his own and feeling desperately out of his depth, Jayce does his best to take care of him while also figuring out a way to bring his partner back.
