Tommy nods even though they can’t see him. “Mhm.”
Tommy hears a conversation in the background then a door closing. “Wanna stay on the phone?”
Tommy nods again, then stutters out, “Uh- Yeah.”
They’re really coming to get him.
-Or: Tommy sees his mother for the first time in almost ten years after she left him to be fostered. He freaks out, resorting to painful old thought patterns as his family try to help him the best they can.

Unlatching from Techno, Wilbur inhaled and exclaimed a little too loudly, “Tommy! My sweet baby, come here, sunshine,” Wilbur staggered forwards, reaching out to Tommy, “I love you so much, Toms, my-“
Wilbur hesitated when Tommy jumped back like he’d been burned.
Wilbur’s face fell into shock at the realization of what Tommy was thinking. What Wilbur had forgotten.
Or: Wilbur comes home drunk and forgets Tommy’s boundaries and triggers. Tommy has only ever seen the abusive side of intoxication and reacts accordingly. Tommy isolates himself, blaming himself for his reaction as Wilbur tries to get through to him.

Summary
Tommy is the outcast of his small town. It's what happens when your father end up becoming the town legend for all the wrong reasons. And being the town outcast isn't easy, especially on Halloween, when everyone expects you to become your worst.
What Tommy didn't expect was the find seven ghostly sins in the oldest house in town. He didn't expect to make friends with them. And he never thought he'd get therapy from them either.
And on the flip side, the seven sins of the house never expected to find a human so un-human like. It was almost painful to watch. The boy didn't sleep, eat, care for himself, he never wanted anything, he didn't care about how others thought of him, he didn't hate the world and most importantly he didn't love himself.
Or: Depressed Tommy gets stuck in a house full of seven demons who have to show him the good side to the seven deadly sins.

Summary
Typically, when Techno saves a hybrid, they scramble up on their feet, blubbering gratuities while Techno tries to calm them down. They are usually hyperactive after being chained up for days, weeks, or stretching if they were locked in a cage. Like a routine as if it were just another sunny day and not a raid of a hybrid trafficking ring, Techno would nod his head and move on to the next unfortunate soul. He lets Phil or Wilbur do the messy part of reuniting families and other boring stuff.
That is why, as Techno opens the last cage, he stops in his tracks when nobody springs out of the cage in excitement and freedom. The cage is so small he debated not even bothering opening it until he saw a small paw sticking out one of the sides. He expects a kitten to leap out of the cage, meowing for their mom or siblings, but when nothing happens, Techno bends his head down to peer in the cage.

When Techno and Wilbur Soot-Watson anger a bully, it shouldn't be an issue. They are as untouchable as they can get, for students anyway.
It's unfortunate that Tommy, their foster brother, isn't. Being their soft spot, it only makes sense that he becomes the next target.

I love the character development. the non-linear recovery. thinking you know whats going to happen next just to be swiped away by an amazing plot twist.
