Nearly one year after the Kraang and things have gone back to semi-normal. At least, as normal as could be: Splinter decided he wanted to start enforcing his traditional father role onto his sons. It would have been great--a dream come true, even--if it weren't such strict training that aggravated their chronic issues mixed with Splinter's confusing praise for his sons.Raphael, personally, was not gonna let that slide. He raised those boys from the time they were tots and Raph was barely a child himself, to present day where his brothers are his pride and joy. Raph may have made mistakes, but he will not let his brothers receive the same treatment as he did when he was a child--not when they were finally over their father's lack of attention.

And what’s makes it even more bad is when it chooses Raphael as it’s target.
So now the three remaining brother have to deal fighting another mechazoid.
While also keeping their brother alive.

Someone shouted behind him- a hand grabbed his shoulder, and made him turn around. It burned. It burned. Get rid of it, distraction, it kept him from punching, it was a distraction it burned- "Dude, stop, you're gonna hurt-"
Swing.
Hit.
Crack.
The one in red froze as soon as he felt something crack underneath his fingers.
Someone shouted, someone fell, and someone else grabbed him and pulled him away- but just before Raph could freak out over that, he was let go. There were still too many emotions bubbling under his skin- but the shock of what he had just felt had him frozen. Stunned, Raph just stood there.
His hands ached. Numbly, he rubbed over his knuckles... and looked down.
His fists were covered in blood.
That... what had just-
"Are you hurt anywhere, Mikey?"

That’s a problem Raph had. He felt every minor thing so strongly that he couldn’t even stay still half the time. Every single emotion, positive or negative, felt as though it was freezing him up head to toe and stopping his mind and heartbeat alike, or as though someone had blinded him, ignited his heart, bones and flesh and with that, it was only a matter of time until the fire grew and burned everything around it, including Raph.

After Splinter's death, the four brothers couldn't quite fit in their predestined roles as well as they could before.
Raph had decided to be the first one to feign normalcy; it's not his fault he didn't know that it would also trigger his downfall. Well, he guessed it was better for him to take the blunt of it as long as his brothers didn't have to deal with him. If he couldn’t protect his father, then he could at least protect his brothers, even if only mentally.

Her experience must be different from his. Shredder was a fucked-up, evil bastard, but he had at least fooled himself into thinking he loved her. He’s probably over there playing house, pretending everything is normal, and that’s an experience so different from Raph’s that they were barely even comparable.

It was over. At least... they THOUGHT it was over. Shredder was gone. Splinter was at rest. The Foot was actually doing good now - it was quiet.
Peaceful.
Boring.
There was a constant itch under his skin now, a need for something to go wrong because when has anything been this good for this long? Something bad was going to happen because happy endings just don't seem like their thing.
But when a spaceship crash lands and everyone is forced to face what might have been - the itch seems to vanish.
