If Mike were to be questioned about what happened earlier, he would say that he didn’t mean for it to happen at all.
And, like, yeah, he’s not lying or anything. He really wasn’t planning on kissing his best friend straight on the mouth in a valiant attempt to shut him up, but saying that he didn’t mean for it to happen implies that it was a mistake, accidental, unthinking, even; and that’s–well–that’s not strictly true, either.

“What are you doing?” he asks, dumbfounded.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m climbing through the window.”
“You know that people created the doors just for this precise purpose?” Will rolls his eyes, but cannot stop himself from smiling.
“Yes, but it’s not that romantic, isn’t it?” Mike smiles, putting his hands on the windowsill, voice breaking on the romantic.
“Romantic?” Will says, confused, not sure if he heard him correctly.
“Romantic,” Mike frowns, trying to push himself to climb into the window. Will is just standing there, expectedly, observing his failing attempts.
“You don’t have an athletic bone in your body,” Will rolls his eyes and leans against the window still. “Are you sure you don’t want to try the door?”
“And risk being caught by your mother? I don’t know about you, but I would rather not explain to her why I decided to drop by almost at midnight with the expectation to spend the night in her son’s bedroom."
Or: Will comes out. Lucas and Dustin handled it pretty well. Mike Wheeler's reaction is a bit harder to read.

“You’re in my personal space,” Cheng Xiaoshi points out, grinning around it.
Lu Guang hums like he’s considering that, but he doesn’t budge either. Their elbows keep knocking together every time Cheng Xiaoshi shifts slightly, pretending to look for something under the sink he knows isn’t there.
The bathroom is too small for two grown men who don’t know how to stay out of each other’s gravity.
“Move,” Lu Guang says finally, tapping the back of Cheng Xiaoshi’s hand with the toothbrush handle.
Cheng Xiaoshi straightens slowly, sticking his tongue out. “Make me.”
There’s a flicker, something like a dare, in the way Lu Guang watches him in the mirror. Quiet and patient, like he has all the time in the world to wait for Cheng Xiaoshi to realize how obvious he’s being.
