The Stone Gryphon by rthstewart, Syrena_of_the_lake
Fandom Chronicles of Narnia (Movies), Chronicles of Narnia - All Media Types, Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis, The Rat Patrol

Summary
The Stone Gryphon is a sprawling Spare Oom story of war, espionage, immoral acts done in service of moral ends, natural history, dinosaurs, Alice in Wonderland, cunning corvids, tequila, D-Day, theology, spirituality, love and sex. If the Dawn Treader can be on the wall of a spare bedroom in Impington, Narnia can be found in other places, too. The Friends of Narnia just have to learn where to look. And upon returning from Narnia, the Pevensies probably didn't just sit around waiting to die in a fiery train wreck.
"No, no! The adventures first," said the Gryphon in an impatient tone: "explanations take such a dreadful time."
L. Carroll, The Adventures of Alice In Wonderland"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."
Francis of Assisi"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

We are driven by forces we cannot control to return home and take a wife. Or die. — Spock (“Amok Time”)
Every seven years, all Vulcans are compelled to return to their native planet to engage in the ancient ritual of pon farr or die trying. Among fans, it is hotly contested whether Vulcans actually only mate once every seven years. However, from a biological perspective, it’s far more remarkable that a mating system where anyone who fails to mate dies could ever evolve, but perhaps it is not impossible given the unique constraints of Vulcan society.
An evolutionary perspective on the Vulcan mating system.

This is a paper I wrote for a philosophy of mind class last semester. The class sucked ass but I'm reasonably proud of this paper, which earned me an A- cause it was late lol. I'm not that well-versed in this area of philosophy, but discussion is welcome! If you love Data/StarTrek/Philosophy/reading random people's academic writing, then this paper is the paper for you!

Summary
A collection of my meta essays, mostly from my Tumblr (currently cardassiangoodreads), about Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, just to have them all in one place. These are written in a very "Tumblr" posting style, and not how I normally write my fiction-analysis essays, so keep that in mind. Marked as "complete" but additional parts may be added in the future.

Not fanfiction— This is an essay I wrote for a monster-themed English class that talked a lot about the definitions of humanity and monsters, so I decided to write my paper on Star Trek since that's already all I think about. Focuses mostly on Spock, Data, and Bashir.
(also, it's written assuming that the reader doesn't know that much about Star Trek, sorry!)Bookmarked by ToasterBonanza

Summary
Well, it's a bit of a complex sort of story. I mean, it's hard for a fellow to know where to begin. Was it when Dax finagled me into agreeing to get hitched? Or was it when my man Garak dropped callous words on my astounded ears? Or was it the hungry look in the Lady's eye?
Oh, it's no good: I'll just have to start at the beginning. Brace yourselves, and let Uncle Julian spin for you a tale that'll have your locks porpentinial in about two-and-a-half shakes.
(PG Wodehouse's 'Jeeves and Wooster' meets DS9's 'Garak and Bashir'. Expect ridiculous dialogue, giggle-inducing hijinks, and Garak to make it all right again after Julian's made it all wrong.)
Written by tinsnip. Illustrated by Lady Yate-Xel. (For more of Lady's art in this 'verse, may I suggest perusal of the tumblr tags ds1920s and what ho garak, among others?

Complete!
AU - Spock has lived all his life on Vulcan. He is the scribe in a temple frequently used by those seeking Kolinahr, and he keeps records of all the initiates as they come and go through the years. Doctor Leonard "Bones" McCoy is a Starfleet doctor on a medical exchange program on Vulcan... and he is not having a good time of it.
When Bones sticks his nose a little too far into the affairs of the temple, the two of them uncover some secrets about the true nature of the ritual that somebody is trying very hard to keep buried.

Summary
Was prompted by ToasterBonanza to write about Kira Nerys repatriating an artifact sacred to Bajor from Cardassia, and this is what we got!
The Shakaar cell leads a procession after Cardassia returns the Orb of Contemplation to Bajor, to collective joy. Kai Opaka says, "So I say to you my people, the survivors of atrocity and keepers of the wormhole—the Prophets cried for you millennia before you were made. They sent their Tears from their temple as a safeguard as to what was to come. And now that it is safe, now that we have won—their Tears are for all."
Featuring Latha having an Orb experience, explaining why he became a vedek.

I was expecting to see a cute little cat, but this one’s quite the opposite. A huge, white tomcat lounges by the empty food dish, one paw across his belly as he smiles contentedly. I clutch my face. Those Frisky Bitz were supposed to last for a whole day!
I stomp back to the kitchen and get another cup of tea. Hrmph. I’ll just have to refill the bowl and hope it lasts longer this time.
I name the tomcat Tubbs.

Vulcan Love Slave (Excerpt) by dianekepler

Summary
Vulcan Love Slave, one of the great works of Ferengi literature, has been read by many a young Ferengi in his time. It has spawned sequels, films, and even holodeck programs. Now, for the first time, an excerpt from the novel appears!
Disclaimer: Don’t own any Trek stuff, but the writing style of John Norman can be legally satirized up the wazoo.
Warnings: Crack-crackity-crackfic. No ideer what’s driving me to satirize John Norman’s writing style up the wazoo, nor to put Vulcans and Ferengi in a Gorean story. Blame it on my cracktastic LiveJournal friends.
