A thud startled him, and he looked over to see Qifrey had dropped the book and was staring at him with wide, almost horrified eyes.
When Coco comes to him with an unusual request, Olruggio is more than willing to help out. But the more he researches and experiments, the more he can't help but notice about his best friend. When it comes down to it, is there any way to save a Silverwood host?

(Spoilers for Chapter 93)
Perhaps, if Qifrey had not been cursed by the silverwood, he would have done things differently. He would have looked at Olruggio with two eyes wide open. He would have realized he was in love with him when was fifteen, or maybe even a little before then, and Olruggio would have told him he knew the moment he saw him. Maybe they would have had years of cuddling and holding hands and sharing a bed and nothing else. Maybe they would have simply enjoyed being in each other's presence until the desire for more eventually simmered, and they would have explored it with stumbling, eager hands and a fire that kindled brighter over time.
The issue was that even though the silverwood was gone, Qifrey's body did not realize it. He still felt the ancient tree inside of him, with its silver-scaled bark and its moon-like leaves fanning in his lungs. Felt it whenever Olruggio curved his hand over his cheek and brushed his lips over his, felt it even when he tried to do something as innocent as threading their fingers together.
It turned out that even after you pulled something out by the root, the ghost of it still lingered long after it was gone.

The cycle was always the same. Olruggio discovered the truth, Qifrey started to turn into a tree, Olruggio would beg to save him, Qifrey took his memories to stay alive. The never ending cycle continued.
But what if it didn't have to?
what if Qifrey could give Olruggio some part of the truth? Enough so Olly knew that he cared, that there was a reason for there situation. But not enough for the Silverwood to feed on the relief and love the full truth would give Qifrey.
It's a terrible idea. Qifrey knows this, and yet... how can he not try.

What if Qifrey reveals just enough to not die?

Most of the time, the bond was useful, convenient. He and Daisuke could sync perfectly in battle and perform Jogress evolution with an ease none of the other pairs could manage. They could calm each other's worries and fears with barely a question as to what was wrong.
Then, there were times like these.
Unfortunately, the bond was exacerbated in moments of high emotion. It became more noticeable, stronger—powerful to the point it could overwhelm you. And the thing about emotions was, they could easily provoke a physical response.
And based on the emotions flooding Ken's system now and the way they urged his body to respond, it wasn't difficult to realize what Daisuke was doing, what he was focused on, what he was feeling.
Yes, at times like these, it was nigh impossible not to give in to the emotions and let his body respond the way it obviously wanted to.
OR
Being able to feel each other's emotions doesn't prevent Daisuke and Ken from being emotionally constipated dumbasses. Angst, comfort, and fluffy smut ensue.
