What? A nervous buzz travels through the students. What on earth could that mean?
“Dr. Gaul and I have…collaborated…on a neural networking device that will allow the mentors to be physically aware of their tribute’s wellbeing as you prepare them for the arena. And after.” Highbottom tips his head speculatively. “Tests indicate that this should only be minimally painful.”

Coryo gets saddled with a psychic link to his tribute, proving once and for all that if you can't produce your own understanding of the inherent worth of other human beings, store bought is fine.
