"That's fine, too. He ignores it when his hands begin to shake and his fingertips grow cold. He nearly falls from the rigging one day after stretching too far, black dots scattering across his vision, and Izzy catches himself just in time. No one sees. He stares down at the deck below, where everyone is resting in the warm sun, and wonders if it would really have been so bad to let himself fall. To break into a thousand tiny shards across the surface of the deck he swabs multiple times a day.
The deck would be so easy a death, he decides, staring down at it longingly. So simple, to just let his fingers slip. They would all think it was an accident. He doubts they'd even wait for his body to cool before dumping him over the side.
His fingers twitch on the ropes. He sighs heavily, tucking his face into them, breathing in the scent of salt air and tar."
Izzy experiences the piratical version of rejection sensitive dysphoria. It will be ok. Heavy on the angst.

Summary
He had been conflicted when he went to examine Ed’s body because Stede had begged him to search for signs of life. Roach may not have been an actual doctor, but he put his all into helping people in every way that he could. He took the health of his crew very seriously. But Blackbeard—The Kraken, he’d heard Jim mutter—was not Roach’s crew.
He had been the captain, far more responsible for the crew’s welfare than Roach. He had ordered Izzy and Ivan to maroon him with half of the others. Roach’s responsibility to care for him ended the moment the Revenge sailed away from that little quay.
But Stede asked, and he was Roach’s captain once again. So he checked for every sign of life he could. No breath. No pulse. Blackbeard’s forehead was cool to the touch, too cool. Roach checked every pulse point he knew. Nothing. Blackbeard wasn’t coming back from this one.
Or; What if Ed had really died for real instead of all that gravy basket nonsense.

In Episode 2.8 Ricky shoots at Izzy, but Ed steps in to take the bullet. He dies asking Stede and Izzy to keep an eye on each other, and they are left picking up the pieces now that the centre of both of their universes is suddenly gone. It wasn't meant to be like this. But life doesn't always care about 'meant to be'.

Summary
Ed drifts up to the deck as if in a haze. The ship is empty, all empty except for him. He stands by the rail and looks out at the blurred endless line between sea and sky. Ed’s floating outside of himself, untethered and alone. There’s no one else in sight. Everyone has gone, everyone has left, Ed has been finally and totally and completely abandoned—
A hoarse voice somewhere above him says, sharply, “Shit.”
Ed looks up. In between the crisscross of rigging and idle flapping of the sails, he can see a figure all in black: Izzy, sitting on the platform halfway up the mainmast. Ed blinks, and breathes, and all at once is settled steady back into his body again. Not alone after all. Of course not.

So she wasn't entirely sure what was going on, which was the excuse Yennefer was going to use if anyone asked her how she managed to walk into a camp without even realizing it. One moment she was alone in the forest, and the next, half a dozen men were surrounding her. They wore familiar black armor, and Yennefer guessed that she must have somehow wandered into a Nilfgaard encampment that had managed to escape the slaughter. They were saying something to her, but she had no idea what. She didn't really care. The fire was right there in front of her, and she used it to end all of their lives. Her grip on her Chaos felt strange like it was falling through her fingers, and she decided that it was probably time to find somewhere to hide.
"Yennefer?" a broken voice said. Yennefer turned intending to end another life and blinked. A pair of familiar blue eyes stared back at her in torn and dirty clothes. He was thinner and covered in blood and bruises. His hands were tightly bound in front of him, and he looked like he was about to pass out.
"Jaskier," she said, and they stared at each other for what felt like a long time.

Jaskier didn’t flinch from her scorn and Geralt could see his knuckles go white with the force of his grip around the small vial. “Save him.”
The mage stared at him for a beat before letting out a burst of laughter that echoed off the wall like the flutter of vultures wings. “All this trouble for the Witcher?” she asked incredulously, “Tell me, boy, do you really think he would do the same for you? That he cares at all what happens to the bard who follows after him like a lost puppy?” She stepped forward, confident as a soldier preparing his death blow. “Oh, I know who you are, bard. I watched you trailing after the Witcher, eager for every scrap of affection or interest he’ll toss your way. I’ve seen the way you look at him.”
Jaskier was breathing heavily now, jaw clenched tight enough that Geralt could see the muscles fluttering with effort.
“Were you hoping this ill-conceived rescue mission would be enough to make him finally notice you?” she murmured with a mocking smile, “Poor little bard--always singing of love but never truly experiencing it.”
