This, of course, is when the queen of the Gato Kingdom decides that he's actually her long lost twin brother and he's brought to the castle and forced into a life that really isn't his.
At least there's a demon haunting the castle threatening to both destroy him and the kingdom. Cellbit couldn't care less about Queen Bagi, but he'll solve her little demon problem for her if it means he gets to go home to his family again. And if he can find the real Lost Prince, too, then that's just a bonus.

The sword clattered from his hand; his knees hit dirt, breath knocked out of him. He lay still, stunned.
The shame bloomed fast and hot. His face flushed, eyes stinging. He didn’t want to look up.
But then a large hand reached down to him.
“Easy,” Diomedes said, soft and warm. “You’ll get it. Everyone falls at first.”
Telemachus let himself be pulled up, his small fingers swallowed by the roughness of Diomedes’s grip.
His eyes prickled. He blinked hard and fast, trying to keep it in. But something had cracked, quiet and deep. The warmth in Diomedes’s voice was too much, too kind, and the grief he didn’t understand yet had nowhere else to go.
“I just—” he started, but the words twisted. “I wanted to be good.”
“You’re ten,” Diomedes said gently. "You're not meant to be anything but ten just yet."
Telemachus scrubbed his face quickly. "I'm almost twelve, actually," he muttered.
Diomedes raised an eyebrow, then gave a quiet laugh. "Ah. My mistake. That changes everything."
5 times Telemachus lost a fight, plus 1 time he didn't.

Although Phil didn’t want to take his eyes off of the two people in front of him, he shouted back to the kidnapped person, “Hey mate, do you know why these dumbasses kidnapped you?”
There was a heavy pause before a hoarse voice asked, “Wait, are you talking to me?”
Phil briefly glanced over his shoulder at the figure. He was hanging upside down, his hands tied behind his back and feet bound with chains.
“Yes, I’m talking to you, the guy hanging from the fucking ceiling. Why did these guys kidnap you?”
“I don’t know! I’ve never seen them before in my life!” The guy cried out. “Please get me out of here I’ve been tied up for-”
“Don’t worry. I’m gonna get you out,” Phil said, earning himself a sharp look from the person he was still pointing his sword at. “Consider it payment for breaking my window.”
or, as a mercenary in the nuclear wasteland, Phil has met quite a few interesting people in his day. Now with two kids in his care, he has to be more careful about who he gives his trust to than ever before.

Quackity's guts churned at the thought of how close he’d come to abandoning Pepito in his hour of need.
Nobody would have been present when Pepito’s egg started cracking in the middle of the night, tiny shards sprinkling off of a thick membrane. Nobody would have scooped it up the way Quackity did and clutched it in fear until he noticed a tiny, clawed hand pressing against the edges until he poked the smallest hole into it, just big enough for Pepito to wedge his fingers into and finish the hatching process.
—The eggs finally hatch. It does wonders for Quackity's crumbling mental health and latent bird instincts.

In which Pepito, a mermaid, does a Very Bad Thing and runs away to live in the Sky as a pirate under the command of Captain Cellbit, who was once the most feared pirate on the seven seas. In exchange for legs, however, Pepito had to give up his voice to the Sea Witch. But that's fine, right? Pirates don't need to talk.
Pepito thinks that Pepito's parents don't care about him, but little does Pepito know that his Apa Roier is hot on his trail. Because, sure, Roier hasn't been the best parent, but Pepito is his kid, of course he's going to be worried about him running away and losing his tail and joining a pirate crew!
(Little does Roier know that the captain of Pepito's ship is the human he fell in love with long ago, and little does Cellbit know that his newest crew member's father is the mysterious merman he fell in love with.)
