"Well I definitely know you do dear, you slept an entire century, remember?" Crowley did remember - fondly - that the only time he got up in 100 years was to go to the Lavatory and that was honestly the best piss he took in all his earth bound life.
"Not tired like you want to sleep, tired like... you want a rest from the rest of life." he was definitely hesitant putting this out there, but he's been thinking about this quite a lot since he delivered the antichrist to the babbling order of St Beryl's.
"You mean like a holiday?" Aziraphale asked curiously putting down his fork and resting it on his plate (no need to dirty the table)
"No, I mean like a real retirement, Angel" he firmly stated.

Summary
South Downs isn't the post-retirement paradise Aziraphale and Crowley thought it would be. Aziraphale sinks everything he is into their new home, leaving nothing for his relationship with Crowley. Feeling slighted, Crowley decides to take a summer-long holiday alone, starting with storm chasing in the States. After all, humans say absence makes the heart grow fonder. He and Aziraphale have spent more time apart than they have together over the last six thousand years. Maybe they just need to spend some time apart. Little does Crowley know, it will be something else entirely that brings them back together.

Summary
There had been a lot of realizations that Crowley had had to have since beginning the moving in process.
One, he wasn't alone anymore. He's with Aziraphale- not that he expected to be with anyone else, and Aziraphale is with him- although that was a bit more unexpected, at least to Crowley.
Two, and most importantly, his cycle of loneliness had ended. He'd have to get used to that.

In other words, moving into the South Downs Cottage, and Crowley's realization that he's home.

Crowley was quiet for a while. Considering. “I don’t know,” he finally said. “I…” He blew out a breath. “I’m happy with what we get up to now. More than happy.” (Aziraphale snuggled closer in agreement.) “But if this is off the menu for me, I want it off because I chose not to do it. Not because they made me so afraid of it, I can’t decide for myself.”
“I have to agree with you,” said Aziraphale. “So, if that is a course you would like to try, perhaps it will take…a bit of reverse-conditioning? Teaching your body to relax, rather than tense, in response to such a stimulus.”
“Mm,” said Crowley. “Yeah. Maybe.”

Summary
Crowley's trauma stubbornly refused to believe such a thing as safety was true; PTSD was the body getting stuck in the past, acting as if the danger was still present. He panicked, and had nightmares, and sat in chairs so his back was to the wall, because some instinctual part of his neural circuitry was screaming at him that you’re still vulnerable, you’re still not safe, they’ll come to violate you at any minute, protect yourself, protect yourself, PROTECT YOURSELF.
But now, for the first time in a long, long while…that part of his brain was finally, blessedly, quiet. He didn’t need to protect himself. There was no danger, no imminent threat. He was safe. He was safe.

Summary
When Crowley suddenly came to, he was on his usual sofa in the bookshop.
He hadn’t been asleep; at least, he didn’t think he had. He would’ve remembered a period of unconsciousness. (Right?) But what he vaguely remembered in the last…however long it had been…was a fuzziness, in both his vision and his thoughts. Fog in his eyes, and low static in his brain. As for the rest of him…it was like the rest of his body hadn’t existed. Hence, fog, and static, and numbness.
Hello dissociation, his old friend of the last eleven months since his rescue from Hell.

On special occasions, Aziraphale made the drive up to Soho to open his bookshop.
It was a long drive, and it would be pointless if money was actually a concern- but it wasn't. It brought Aziraphale some joy to run his shop himself. It was nice to see the people of Soho and stay in his old home, even if Crowley complained.
