Megatron blinks.
Optimus stands in the middle of the room, bouncing a wailing sparkling on his hip with an air of general distress as he desperately tries to shush her.
Megatron blinks again. The sparkling’s wailing pitches a decibel louder.
Optimus turns to them, optics wide and wet and distraught. “Dee, she won’t stop crying.”
Elita and Bee convince Megatron to come back to Iacon. Two things.
1. Megatron is unaware that it involves Optimus and a sparkling.
2. …How in the Pits did Optimus find a sparkling?

Summary
“Their energon is on your servos. Their great leader, their chosen one,” Megatron snarls finally, mockingly, and he puts so much quiet vitriol into it that it makes his own spark twist as he strains against the axe pressed to his throat. His optics burn. “How does it feel, Prime, to be blessed by a god?”
“It is no blessing,” Optimus spits, a holy reckoning wreathed in light from above, and they both ignore how it sounds like half a sob. “I had no choice.”
Five times Megatron fights Optimus Prime, and one time he doesn’t.
(There is a very thin line between a martyr and a sacrifice. That line is free will.)
(Optimus Prime, it seems, does not have any.)

His fans are on high because they’re in the middle of a battle. He’s winded, of course. Nothing at all to do with the fact that Optimus, with his knightly blades and his proton axe, had used Megatron’s gun to make a fragging magnificent shot and said gun had listened to him on a biomechanical level—
“Gimme,” he snaps, shaking an outstretched servo impatiently.
“Alright, alright, it’s not gonna run away,” Optimus says under his breath, ex-venting heavily as he gets to his pedes and hands over what is now once again a regular-degular handgun.Megatron has another nightmare. Optimus fires his gun. These two things are unrelated.

Summary
“You’re a weakness,” Megatron whispers, voice grainy. His servo shakes where it lays palm-up on his thigh. “I should have killed you. Been done with you once and for all.”
“Then do it.” Optimus quirks his optical ridges as he reaches out and wraps digits around the mech’s wrist. He plants Megatron’s cold, hard fist right under his chin, replays the bitter memory of staring down the barrel of a cannon, and meets Megatron right in the optics. “If it’s what you want, I won’t stop you.”
“…It would kill me, too.” The mech’s mouth barely moves, like it’s a confession torn right from his spark. “It would kill the only part of me left that’s worth saving.”
Optimus goes back to the bunker.

He lifts his chin and walks away.
