Out of every possible outcome his death could lead to—waking up two years in the past was not at all what Harry had planned.
In all honesty, he hadn’t planned much past that to begin with, given he was about to die and that cancelled all his upcoming plans rather naturally.So, sorted into Slytherin, watching Draco Malfoy’s inner turmoil from the front seat the way his sixteen year old self could only dream about and under the concealment of a polyjuiced body would make for a fun year, right? Probably? Not really.
Because there is one little, insignificant catch—the real Harry Potter of the timeline is still, rightfully, there, and Harry has to navigate his life (death?) very, very carefully.
But, carefully and Harry Potter had never quite seen eye to eye, so he does the next best thing—falls hopelessly in love with Draco Malfoy, of all people.

Somehow Merlin was the best dice player he’d ever met. He would never admit it out loud, but Merlin was good. Really good. Too good. Merlin had to be cheating. Arthur didn’t know how and he didn’t know why, but he was going to figure out how the hell Merlin was cheating at dice if it was the last thing he did.

One day something traumatic happens to him, which everyone knows about, and everyone is waiting for Merlin to snap, only for him to...not. Arthur is caught between worried and suspicious, and sets about to get to the bottom of this.

Summary
When Merlin had first arrived in Camelot, it had been a shock in many ways. The first thing that struck him, even as he first ventured through the lower town on that very first week, was how no one seemed to touch. In Camelot, people existed separate from each other, kept apart by a complex web of social conventions and class divisions. In Ealdor, by contrast, human contact was an important resource, not to be taken for granted.
The second thing that struck Merlin on that first week in Camelot had been the Crown Prince. With a mace. This had taught Merlin his second lesson about what living in Camelot would be like. Namely, that it would be painful.

Grief was an all too familiar concept for draco. It resembled an aged yellow lamp on a front porch, lighting up as twilight sunk into the horizon, it’s warm almost motherly glow welcoming the children home after a day spent playing. It was something ancient—intimate even—it’s presence beckoning him. Come, you know what it feels like already, come. And each time Draco would stare into its yellow heart, eyes unblinking as the lamp flickered into the evening and he would keep watching until the light died out. Until darkness enveloped him, cold and familiar.
In which Draco Malfoy blinds himself after being haunted by visions, and Harry Potter helps him return to a new sort of normalcy. Simple Auror duties really, it's not because he feels what Draco feels, definitely not because he's considered hurting himself the same way to feel something, anything really.
