Summary
There are many things that confuse Bellatrix, but top of the list? Muggleborns. Every time Hermione invites her to do something Bellatrix doesn’t understand, she dismisses it with a smile and the same explanation; “It’s a muggle thing.”

Usually at the market she'd be treated to Laudna's light, musical inner dialogue about the ripeness of fruits or the bread Zhudanna might like best, but instead it's just quiet. All Imogen gets is what Laudna shows on her face, and the words she says out loud. Words like you don't have to listen in to get my thoughts. I'll always share them willingly. You can just ask.
There's only one thing Imogen wants to ask right now. It's blaring in Imogen's mind like a temple bell, so loudly that even with the circlet she's sure Laudna must be able to hear it. And Laudna is looking at her so sweetly. Every moment they've been parted has made this all-consuming feeling worse, harder to pack away, and this could be her last chance to say it. Her only chance.
She has to say it. She has to ask.

Bellatrix Black is the Captain of The Black Serpent, crewed by her sisters and an assortment of magical folk they have picked up on their travels. They meet Hermione, who is on the run from a bad marriage, and find out there is more to her than they initially thought.

“The reason Andy’s pissed is—” Hermione’s cheeks heat. “Well, I sorta kissed her sister yesterday.”
Pansy’s eyes go wide. “Are you—Don’t get me wrong, the woman’s stunning, I can’t possibly blame you. But I thought she’s in France?”
“Narcissa is, yes.”
Pansy raises her eyebrows in a silent question.
“She has more than the one, you know.”

Hermione's week hasn't been getting better—there's an irate Andromeda, stress at work, figuring out what to tell anyone about this mess with Bellatrix, and, well, figuring out what she feels about said mess. That's not even getting to what Bella might feel.
And, honestly, the oncoming holidays are hardly helping.
