“Your kid’s here,” Florence says, gesturing at Jonathon with her pen. “I wasn’t gonna leave ‘till someone took him home. His mama’s not getting him.”
“She is,” Jonathan inputs, shrinking again. He forces himself to get up to his feet, put his glass down. Hopper’s eyes zero in on him immediately, and the red in his face pales. He mutters shit under his breath, and Jonathan gets the distinct impression that either Florence didn’t tell him like she promised, or Hopper forgot. “Um. She’s looking for Will right now, did she tell you?”
AKA: After Will went missing, Jonathan isn't always the first thing on Joyce's mind. Hopper picks up the pieces.

Summary
After applying to work at Scoops Ahoy over the summer, Max had found herself holed up in Scoops Ahoy with Mike Wheeler for 7 hours a day, 4 days a week. Eventually, the two warm up to each other, even enough for Max to consider Mike her best friend. Although they are closer than ever before, Max still hasn't touched on any of Mike's darker thoughts or experiences, which led her to believe that he didn't have any.
As they experience the wrath of terrifying Soviet officers while hundreds of metres underneath Starcourt mall, Max learns that there is more to Mike Wheeler than she had previously thought.

“I dunno,” Peter says casually, reaching for his sandwich before remembering he finished it. “They smell weird. Are you gonna finish those fries?”
MJ peers at him over her book, giving him a disinterested look before returning to her reading on Cannibalism in Medieval European Societies. She’s probably trying to go for her trademark you-could-be-choking-on-your-tongue-and-I’d-still-wait-to-finish-my-page-before-calling-an-ambulance kind of look, and it might have worked, but the book is upside-down and her neutral expression is sloppier than usual.
If Peter didn’t value his life, he might have called it worry.
She gives him a squinted-eye once-over. Then, slowly, without breaking eye contact, slides her plate of half-eaten fries to the center of the table.
Since she’s allergic to the full spectrum of human emotions, or at least to communicating them through words, Peter’s learned that MJ sharing food is her way of saying things are okay. At least for now.
He takes a fry.
She steals a gummy worm and goes back to her book.
