It’s inconvenient, at first, having to take the bus everywhere now that he was completely unaligned with Trinity, but then Dr. Abbot starts to offer to take him home. It isn't unheard of for suppressants to just stop working. Bruce, with his long time of abusing suppressants, is painfully aware of this. He knows this is bound to happen one day. He just doesn't think one day turns out to be right now. But it makes sense, in a way, when he considers the presence of Clark. Of the only alpha who has gotten so close to him; of the strong, powerful pheromones he has been frequently exposed to, ever since Clark stepped into his life.
So maybe, Clark is the one who finally tipped everything off. The one triggering this inescapable heat in him. Maybe not.

Hotch purses his lips when Reid doesn’t respond, black eyes shimmering with a loaded determination.
“This only works if you trust me.”
It’s not blackmail or intentional guilt tripping, but it almost feels like it; if he lets his fear win, if he takes the out and pulls out of the mission, not only is he putting a stake through their most solid plan, but now he’s also telling Hotch he doesn’t trust him to have his back.
And unfortunately for Reid, there’s no known universe where he doesn’t trust Hotch with his life.

Summary
He’s halfway towards the neighbouring room when he finds himself halting. The room further down the hallway is quiet, with no light filtering through the crack, so Reid must have still not turned in for the night. It shouldn’t bother him, but after everything the man has done for his son tonight, it doesn’t feel right to leave him downstairs by himself. He should at least check if the man wants some company. With that in mind, Aaron makes his way back to the living room.

It's just a routine surgery; a simple appendix removal, so when Hotch gets the text from his newest agent, he doesn't think much of it until the hospital alerts him of a complication in surgery: Spencer's haemorrhaged, and they don't know if he'll pull through or not.
As the team race to the hospital, they're forced to confront how they've behaved towards their newest team member and hope desperately that it's not too late to make things right.

Aaron Hotchner couldn't ask for better agents than David Rossi, Derek Morgan, Emily Prentiss, and Jennifer Jereau. In fact, he prides himself on heading the best team the BAU has to offer. Still, he's not so arrogant he doesn't know when it's time to call for help, so when his team hits a brick wall with a ticking clock, he reaches out to the Intelligence Control and Analysis Program. ICAP sends him a mountain of files, all of them good candidates, but Hotch is repeatedly drawn to the same file. Genius #2036334-4383 has three doctorates and a high success rate with the Bureau, though he's never been in the field. According to his file, he has behavioral issues and doesn't play well with others, but Hotch doesn't see that being a problem. It's a temporary arrangement, after all.
