Summary
Merlin does a lot for Camelot and those he cares about. It’s a full time job on top of his full time job. A lot of it is stressful. Most of it is traumatising on some level. That kind of thing tends to catch up to a person.
Or, Merlin is exhausted. He collapses in front of the knights and they take him to Gaius. However, Merlin is both traumatised and very powerful. His magic needs to make sure he’s safe just as much as the knights do.

Summary
Hiccup was always a strange kid. Just because now he’s part of the group and no longer the village outcast doesn’t make that go away. Instead, it tends to foster a feeling that the change is temporary, and any weakness or slip up will land him right back where he was.
It also doesn’t change the prejudice against Hiccup that’s ingrained in the village by force of habit by now. As far as the village is concerned, he could run about shouting about fairies and sun sprites stealing chickens from his bedsheets and it would be totally normal Hiccup behaviour, so they behave accordingly.
So now, there’s a village of people expecting Hiccup to act strange and Hiccup, who will hide any strangeness or weakness from them at any cost.

OR Hiccup is captured and tortured by Viggo. But when he realises no one noticed, he hides it so that the others don’t see him as weak or like they used to.

Summary
No one likes the Joker. It’s just a fact.
The sky is blue, the grass is green, no one likes the Joker.
When you’re a group of vigilantes, many of whom have been personally hurt by the Joker, this hatred runs even deeper.
It makes fighting the guy inconvenient.
In the end, when they do have to fight Joker, they’re left with only four people against Gotham’s greatest and most insane enemy.
Bruce, Cass, Steph and Tim.
Tim, who to no one else’s knowledge, has his own issues with the Joker.
