Aventurine makes it out of the abyss - and into a different world. Things are different here - simpler. There are no Aeons, no intergalactic factions and corporations, no Paths and Blessings. He is not naïve enough to assume that there is no cruelty and discrimination here - for there always is - but for the most part, everything is peaceful.
Here, Aventurine's priorities are getting people's coffee orders right. Fairly straight forward, if you ask him.
Except for the bit where he is surrounded by too many familiar faces, and they remind him of a place he can no longer return to. That's okay. People come and go, and so will they.
Except for the bit where they come and go and come back.
AKA. Aventurine gets dropped into a coffee-shop AU with all the memories from before. He's handling things until he's not handling things. That's okay, because he still has friends (and Dr Ratio) in this world. He just doesn't know it yet.

Even if he has to hide the fact that he's a God from them. And then he has to hide the fact that he's a vigilante from the heroes who he now works for and have taken an interest in him. Tommy was loud. Tommy was combative and hostile and defensive and aggressive. Tommy was destructive. He knows he’s a problem child, constantly getting into trouble and wrecking any semblance of a family he might have left. But he doesn’t stop- he prefers the disgusted looks and constant new faces to the heartbreak that comes with caring.
Tommy’s been bounced from home to home for most of his adolescence. This place is supposed to be a new start with people who care, but Tommy can’t bring himself to open up. He knows it’ll only end in pain and bitterness. He has his friends and support system, and he tells himself it’s all he needs.

Dream widened his eyes as he let go of the blonde's wrist. He looked just as shocked as the teen felt, but the shock was replaced quickly much more fire in his gaze than previously as his lips curled into a snarl. Now Tommy messed up. He messed up bad.

Tommy suddenly realized how ridiculous his words were and backtracked. “No, I mean I’ve never seen you here before. This stand has always been empty.”
“Oh! Yeah that’s fair, I’m pretty new.” He laughed, “I bought this stand last week, but it took me forever to set it up.”
He nodded, still wondering about the keychain, the one with Wilbur’s picture in it he found the day before. “That makes sense. Welcome to the mall. Also, sorry about toppling your stand yesterday.”
Wilbur blinked “You did what?”
