They don’t retire until late; Wil drunk enough that he flops straight onto the largest of the two beds, asleep, without even taking off his boots. Phil rolls his eyes, Techno muttering something about children, but still moves him, takes off his boots and his jacket, weighed down by his knives and little smoke bombs that he’s been experimenting with, throwing a fur over him while Phil stokes the fire. He lets the old man have the bed and instead takes the floor in front of the fire; his bedroll comfy enough and a little spark of magic to will the fire into burning through the night before settling down.
With good food and a few cups of wine Technoblade settles into a gentle sleep.So it’s quite the surprise, when not even two hours later, he is roused by the barely-heard creak of floorboards beneath feet. Technoblade doesn’t twitch, focusing a little more on his hearing, and goes tense in sudden alarm when he can hear Phil breathing softly in sleep, Wil’s muffled into his pillow, which means—
Intruder.
Or: Technoblade is more cautious than his companions, but that still leaves him unprepared.

Before Tommy said his first word, he mimicked his first sound. Not the kind of baby-babble you'd expect, but a full on churrup that he'd copied from his father when he tripped over a toy the little blue eyed boy had thrown over his crib (it was also his first curse, though it wasn't in English).
And then he huffed like Techno. Then hummed like Wilbur. And then the not-even-one-year-old decided he like meowing and convinced the group that there was a cat in the house for a good month before they realized it was coming from the youngest in the house.
His first English word, however, was a question that they were all asking.

AKA, Tommy is a mocking bird in disguise and laughs when his family fails to try and get him to say just one word. Wilbur is oldest but he and Techno were born on the same day, just different years so Wilbur claims them as twins. Father Philza is just a tired bird man. Summary
Rain splashed across cobble floors in a repetitive manner. The relaxing splish splash sounds nearly lolling Tommy to sleep. He couldn’t sleep just yet though, despite his small size the walls pressed in of him, and the sharp edges of stone pressed into his sides. This was all he could do to avoid the downpour though, since he wasn’t able to slip into dry spots like this as a human.
Curly golden fur was dirtied and pressed flat into his sides and he moved about the tight space. He hissed warningly, annoyed as the rain got a bit too close to his front paws. People occasionally walked by with umbrellas, laughing or grumbling as their feet and pants took the brunt of the sky’s assault on the land. Some others sprinted by, hiding beneath coats or all our running for shelter. The rarest would pause upon spotting him, either cooing at him or kicking his way when he hissed at them to fuck off.

Tommy had never had to handle exhibits, outside of himself and the lions, sometimes. He wasn’t good at handling animals (as much as he loved them), and he wasn’t good at handling people.
It wasn’t right for a hybrid to handle people anyways. He was beneath them.

His claws graze Tommy’s cheek like a sick test, and Tommy whimpers again, high and terrified. “You would do anything for him, little bird, wouldn’t you?”Wilbur struggles against his bindings, gritting his teeth in protest. His fingers flex, but the power dampener around his throat refuses to let him phase away from his front-row seat. “Yes,” he replies finally. He would be groveling if he were free. Since he is not, he pleads, mouth dry and cottony, eyes wet with frustrated tears. “I will answer your questions for you. Just don’t touch him anymore.”
“You aren’t really in a place to be making deals, mate,” the Angel reminds him gently. He drops Tommy’s face anyway, backing away, and then moves to lean down to cup Wilbur’s chin. His claws are gentle when he wipes the stubborn tears on his face.
“Anything,” Wilbur amends, his eyes hard when the Angel forces their gazes to meet. He feels like a scolded child. It is like he is seven again, and Dream is asking him how he is planning to save the world if he cannot even dodge a hit. “I’ll do anything for Tommy. Leave him out of this.”

The customer hums, perhaps in approval, perhaps not. Either way, Tommy knows what comes next. The keeper will wrench back the cloth that covers his cage, and whatever rich asshole that's standing on the other side will gape and gawk and take a few large steps back. The light will hurt his eyes, and his chains will rattle when he shifts against the back wall, and the keeper will try to get the customer to purchase him. The customer will look at him with only disgust.
The curtain will close. He will be alone again.
In the beginning Tommy would hiss and gnash his teeth like a wild beast. His fists would slam against the metal bars and he would howl, and all those cowards would go running. It was so satisfying, watching their faces curl with fear as they turned and ran.
Now there isn’t enough room to even wiggle around the cuffs and straps that press into him. His own cocoon of metal and leather, just a whim away from strangling him if someone sees fit.
