Summary
They didn’t have time to turn before something moved on the opposite side of the street. Hels didn’t catch more than a blur of movement before something pricked his neck. He blinked, pulling a dart from his neck. There was a small clear tube within, with a single drop of sparkly blue fluid inside it. He staggered as everything blurred. The world around him turned into a swirl of colors, flickering and shifting in front of him. He squinted through the swirling pastels. Too bright. Everything was too bright — He felt his body lurch, unable to feel where he was to catch himself as he collapsed. A loud ringing encompassed him, and he groaned as the pain in his head pulsed incessantly. He managed to slur Ex’s name. Something brushed his back, and he snapped back into reality. Mostly. He still wasn’t seeing everything right — there was a shining film over parts of his vision, blurring a lot of what lay beyond it, but there were some clear sections.
In one of those, he could see masked people grabbing Ex by the shoulders and torso. They were fighting back, managing to kick at least one of them in the nuts, but it didn’t seem to matter. There were too many of them — They were losing. Hels didn’t think. He just moved.

Summary
The room was exactly as he left it, with the exception of a few moved objects. One of Hels’ swords propped up in a corner. A pan on the stove, likely containing some sort of caked-on sauce he’d complain about having to clean later. A book lying face-down on an end table next to Hels’ spot on the couch. Everything was in its place. He let out a slow sigh, shutting and locking the door behind him.
He made it to his room, pausing. The door was cracked open. The air inside felt stale against his skin — something was wrong. Someone had been in here. He slowly pushed the door open, stepping inside. There was something sitting on his bed, lying on top of his blanket. He didn’t recognise it at first. He very carefully picked the object up, staring down at it. It was a wooden box shaped like a pentagon. There was a knob on one side, likely there to let you open one of the drawers. He stared down at the top of it. There was some sort of design there, slightly hidden. He frowned. That was supposed to mean something, wasn’t it? He wiped it with his sleeve. A golden sigil immediately appeared, dug into the top of the box. He startled. The box tumbled from his hands.

Summary
Let it be said that trying to fly away from the falling moon wasn’t Evil Xisuma’s best idea. In fact, it was one of many that he regretted every day. Or… what he determined to be a day, here in the timeless void. This unchanging place was where the universe had decided to respawn him after he was burnt to death when the moon hit Hermitcraft 8. It was where he’d spent… what felt like lifetimes, resisting the void tugging at him from all angles. It was trying to tear him apart — the void was meant to be empty, so it wasn’t particularly surprising that it disagreed with his presence here. He was long past waiting for someone to save him, and had run out of ways to try and drag himself out. It was no use — he was going to die here, and he had already made a sort of shaky peace with that fact. The only question was how much longer they wanted to wait. The void was tugging at his limbs, and he felt his body sag, allowing it to shake him around like a dog tearing apart a little stuffed toy. He was so tired… there was no point in fighting anymore. He took in a last, deep breath, and gave in. Pain washed over him, knocking any sort of final thought from his head, and suddenly there was nothing.
And then, there was everything.

Summary
He startled when he turned and saw another person. Xisuma was sitting across the room, glaring at him. Ex’s eyes narrowed, searching his armourless form until they finally caught onto the chain wrapped around X’s ankle. Alright — so not a ploy by Xisuma either? Maybe this was a plot against Hermitcraft, then. That would explain why they had him, though it wouldn’t explain why they’d bothered to grab Ex from a different location. …maybe they thought he’d be a pressure point — a weakness that would make Xisuma consider betraying his people. He almost laughed at the idea — if that was their plan, they were about to be sorely disappointed. Some of his amusement must’ve shown on his face, because the last bit of curiosity Xisuma’s held had quickly soured.
“So, what’s the plan here?” He asked, leaning back, his chained leg tucked beneath him. The rest of his body screamed of casualty — though Ex wasn’t quite sure if it was real.
“Hm?” He glanced around. “Well, looks like your average kidnapping to me.” They shrugged, tugging on their chains.
Xisuma just chuckled.

Summary
When he got there, he was unpleasantly surprised. EXE was already situated in the alley, crouched behind a dumpster and fiddling with some sort of device. If X had to guess, he’d say they were probably trying to use the firewall’s internal weaknesses to bring the whole thing down.
“EXE, what are you doing?” He asked, glancing around to make sure that EXE truly had no quick way out. They didn’t. The other end of the alley was just a wall, and there was nothing for them to grab onto. EXE startled, body rocking back just a bit. They really had terrible observational skills — X hadn’t been particularly quiet when he entered the alley. “What’re you doing?” He repeated.
“Eh — just the same thing I do every time I’m here!”
AKA: X is an android working to protect the City. He spends every day dealing with the various viruses that break in through the firewall, including the notorious EXE. Unfortunately for him, something is about to happen that will change his life forever.

Summary
Welsknight was restless. The fact that the dim early morning was completely silent didn’t help. He paced his room, shining armour making extremely annoying scraping sounds with each step and shift he made. It didn’t stop him from pacing, of course. It was annoying — Wels was a knight, imbued with discipline and orderliness. He could control every single part of himself, except this. When the beast in his brain stem started to writhe and gnash its teeth, he would fall to its whims eventually. This time, though, he was determined not to give in. The damn beast had to quiet down eventually. If he didn’t hand it exactly what it wanted, maybe his brain would rewire itself. Or the thing would just lie down and give in. That was what his superiors had always said — if you beat something enough, it eventually yields to you.
