Soon after Jervis Tetch is brought in which Jonathan could care less about until Jervis comes up to him. Jonathan invites him to chess where they have an interesting discussion that leads to a hopeful ending.

Come to think of it, Jason’s behavior had been strange almost the entire mission. At least from the moment things went south. For all his faults, Jason rarely cracked under pressure. He was brave, headstrong and didn’t scare easily, so him losing his composure like that was incredibly out of character. Bruce wracked his brain trying to find any possible reason, a clue he might have missed.
A mission goes sideways and Bruce learns something new about his two oldest kids

Batman had faced many enemies, not always necessarily reachable, such as the great mafia families of Gotham. Cutting off a head did not mean killing the Hydra. He had also dealt with psychopathic killers, such as Zsasz or Professor Pyg. Lost souls, blinded by rage, like Killer Croc or Poison Ivy. Or even great troublemakers, such as the Joker or the Mad Hatter. Not necessarily evil, but still dangerous for others and themselves.
But this was unprecedented, new, and in the worst way. He could only watch helplessly as his friend Harvey was taken into the van that would take him to Arkham. And Batman knew he was not at the end of his troubles, soon encountering others souls, lost and enraged by the world, like Riddler or Scarecrow.Series
