The growl of an engine shook him to his core, and Dick looked up to see something he never thought he’d see in his entire life. The nine year old sat in the driver's seat, face lit with a cunning grin, dimples shining brighter than the morning sun. Any remnant of tears were now gone, as if they never existed as the boy with the once innocent, pitiful puppy-dog eyes laughed in his face.
“Later, Dick!” Tim yelled, with far too much emphasis to just be an acknowledgement of his name. The car rumbled as it skidded onto the road, speeding into the distance, leaving Dick in stunned, horrified silence.
