anon: Hi, hope both of you are doing great. This is for Writing Wednesday. Can you write where Alec is the Trueblood heir because he has some sort of Family gift, like sentient hadow wielding? Sentient shadows that are VERY attached to Magnus because they feel safe around him or something? Always felt that it was a damn shame the series never delved more into this other than the Fairchild's
and then i ended up getting a lot of prompts so now it's a universe with a few fics. updates sporadic though because i'm not even sure how to organize the chapters written for it amidst all the other fics i'm trying to transfer over
maryse needs alec to trust her or she's going to lose her son. that's the only thing she cares about btw.
if alec stops trusting her now, she will never get him back and she's desperate to not lose him completely. so she calls in the only warlock she's allowed to and the clave are eager for it, because they want alec's powers to grow and they also don't want to keep him somewhat contained and a saferoom to protect him and protect other people is what they want.
maryse paying ragnor extra under the table to ignore the clave's protocols and add different ones for alec.
ragnor: this is borderline treason
maryse: he's my heir, potions master fell. ive already committed far worse treason for less
ragnor: well, at least you're honest
(maryse would love to lie but she can't get away with that so the harsh truth it is)
ragnor: i am going to tuck him into my pocket and take the laddie home until there's a bit of chub on his cheek. i'm sure the institute and his mother won't miss him for a few years.

ragnor: *OuTrAgEd TeAkEtTlE NoIsEs* (reads outraged tea kettle noises, written to be dramatic because ragnor is a drama king... like all of Team Immortal)
maryse does not trust ragnor but he's literally her only hope rn
Notes:
Okay so Alec is more willing to forgive Maryse than Robert and that's because I feel like that's canonically true in the show as well. So Maryse gets her ability to be redeemed (with the knowledge that she'll die the moment she fucks up) and trust me. she does not want to mess up and it's not even because she'll lose face. it's because at the core of it, show maryse is a mother and this just stabbed her to the core that took seasons to find.
she was about to be thought of as an enemy by her baby. her child who is barely at her hip and who doesn't even have his first runes and Maryse has to live with that now and she's not okay with it. the shadows are going to torture her with that by their sheer existence for the rest of her life. and the knowledge of that is partially why Alec ends up forgiving her, because he considers her actions met in return and now even. because he wants a relationship with her, so he wants a reason to forgive her, or at least a way to... and his shadows won't ever let her hurt him again. also again, this is complicated and fucked up and this is not a good reason to forgive your abusers. alec being inhuman and raised in an inhuman/militaristic society and wanting the relationship of his mother is not a good representation for these kinds of relationships in real life.
but yeah robert never really sees alec again because there is no guarantee the shadows just wont eat him. the clave cant really do anything because the shadows are a gift from the angel and they're known to be a small amount of sentience somewhat separate from their wielder which means the clave can't outright disavow them. or punish people for what their shadows do.
the clave is very put out that the trueblood family gifts came back instead of the lightwood ones.

“Can you describe what’s happening?”, asks Magnus into the phone, while he puts the potion he was working on stasis. And while he knows Alec can sometimes stumble with his words in informal situations, hearing him struggling to find the words to answer what Magnus assumed was a simple question, has his worry increasing.
“It’s … some people are behaving weirdly, and I don’t … No, Raj, I’m not allergic to anything … sure, you can leave them there … I don’t have time to go to the supply closet with you … Magnus, please, could you come over?”, ends Alec, in a desperate tone.

As it’s usual in Alec’s life, everything happened at the same time. Some male Shadowhunters suddenly and inexplicably have the hots for him, he suspects something magical. He has coffee with his Mundane friend, his siblings made him feel awful, he finally manages to see Magnus again, but not how he wanted. He deals with the newly found Mortal Cup, yells at Clary and his siblings for a bit, and he comes out to his parents. Not in that order, but definitely all in the same day.

Magnus’s eyes opened, confused with sleep. Alec smiled dopily at him.
But the confusion in Magnus’s eyes didn’t fade. He looked…afraid, even.
Alec frowned, pulling away slightly to look Magnus in the eye properly. “Magnus? Magnus, what’s wrong?”
Slowly, Magnus pushed himself up into a sitting position. The movement made him stare down at his own hands, inspecting his rings with a baffled expression on his face.
“Pardon my indulgence,” said Magnus, in a bizarrely English accent. “It’s quite out of the ordinary for drink to ruin my recollections so completely. I trust the evening was enjoyable.”
Alec would’ve laughed if not for the way Magnus was glancing around the room, looking for exits.
Magnus wakes up one morning thinking it's February 1878. This doesn't bode well for his husband and two children living in the twenty-first century.

“Jace, I would give anything to spare you this.” Alec breathes deeply, eyes remaining closed. “But as your Head, I am telling you that this will happen."
Jace makes a barely audible sound at that certain proclamation, and Magnus would give a lot not to know what it sounds like for the strong-willed Shadowhunter to smother a sob into his brother’s shoulder.

A thin werewolf slips up into the VIP section and comes up to whisper in Magnus' ear. "Commander Lightwood dropped a body off at the door, High Warlock. A nephilim body." As Magnus' gaze jerks over to the guard, the wolf continues unbidden. "There's a Circle rune on the neck, sir." He hesitates before continuing. "But it's been... uh.. stabbed through the center."
Alec smirks, still not looking up. "Pretty sure I chipped the blade on his vertebrae, actually." He quirks an eyebrow even as he smoothly guides the whetstone over the weapon's edge. "It would have been an utter shame to waste such a well-marked target though,” he purrs.

Before Q could rationally think his actions through, he had reassembled the gun and had it loaded in a blink. It was loaded, aimed and ready to fire– even taking the few centimetres it leaned to the left in account.
“You seem to keep forgetting I am the one to have built the weapon you are here to return to TSS. Personally.”
Q lowered the gun and dismantled it just as easily as he had before, laying out the pieces on a tray and picking it up. He had to push past 006 who was still standing in the doorway, his eyes following Q as he moved to carry the tray back to the main workshop area.
“Well? What are you waiting for? I don’t have all night.” Q leaned on the workbench, peering at 006 sharply.
A look of amusement broke through 006’s otherwise stern facade. “Marry me.”
Pausing, Q blinked. “Did you just… Did you just proposition to your superior officer?”
006 nodded, grinning brightly.
“Drop your mission gear onto the workbench and get out of my Branch.” Q ordered, “Before I change my mind and shoot you.”
