Zuko heard screaming coming from down the hallway. He and Mai were in his bedroom when they heard it. It came from the northern wing, where his friends were staying.
He and Mai barged into Sokka's room, flames and knives in hand, needing to be ready in case they truly were in trouble. "What's wrong? Where's the danger?" He scanned the room for a threat, but as he noticed nothing unusual he let it drop.

Never ever scorn a mother's love. A mother's love is what builds the world. To take your first breath requires a mother's love. Creation itself is a mother's love. But most of all, a mother's love teaches her children how to love. It is as deep as an ocean, steady as earth, uplifting as air, and most importantly, as dangerous and passionate as the fiercest fire. Gentle, but always dangerous if provoked. And it teaches well.
Azula has a hard time learning proper emotions. But she can recognize them. She knows anger is her father's eyes sharpening, and sadness sounds like her brother sniffling in the garden. She knows her mother loves Zuko. She thinks her mother might love her too. It's always impossible to decipher emotion when it's pointed at her. Better to observe and understand. Her mother poisons grandfather to save Zuko's life and flees to save her own.
Azula watches. Azula learns.
Love is softness. Love is hugs. Love is drying tears and cleaning scraped knees. Love is silent and deadly and grows like a weed unnoticed. Love protects to the extend of murder. Love is poison poised to strike.Series

Apparently, the Mayor ran a cult and the children (and maybe her) were sacrifices. She was so glad she took the liberty of learning magic when she lost her firebending.

Vlasy měl po zadek dlouhé – delší než ona, uvědomila si – a vršek vlasů měl stáhnuté do drdolu, zatímco zbytek mu splýval podél těla a pár pramenů mu z drdolu utíkaly a padaly do tváře. Jeho jizva, rudě zbarvená přes levé oko až k uchu. Stále netušila, jestli na to oko vidí a jestli slyší na to ucho.
„Jsem doma,“ odpověděl jí s úsměvem, a to pro ni byl znak na uklidnění. Zklidnila postoj a nevěnovala venkovance žádný pohled, než znovu pohlédla na Zuka.
Zuzu je doma.
S tím se složila. Byla ráda, že byl doma. Aspoň někdo ji totiž chytil, když omdlela. -

After so long she is free and living her own life. It may not be the life Azula had always wanted but it is the one she has managed to build for herself. It has cost her blood, sweat, tears, and nightmares beyond counting but it is her’s. On good days she might even say that she is happy. Despite how much she would wish it though, the past is not an easy thing to escape. Crime and rebellion bring old faces to Azula’s door and she will have to fight harder than ever to keep ahold of her new life, of the changed woman she has chosen to be.
The remote village she has been hiding in will find itself playing host to a wide variety of unwanted guests. While not the biggest threat Suki represents the most dire as far as Azula is concerned. That will make it all the more confusing for her as in addition to preventing the world from ending she has to deal with Suki once more at her mercy and all the new feelings that develop. Most of them decidedly not bad to both of their surprise. -

Watching her brother's Agni Kai broke something in Azula. Completely disillusioned to the idea of being the golden child, Azula goes on strike and refuses to use her bending at all. Ozai ships her to Master Piandao to train her in blades while waiting for her rebellion to burn out. Unfortunately for him and Master Pi, Azula has no intention of bending-her wit and will are as strong and sharp as any blade.
