I—I don’t know what you mean.” Lucifer’s eyes narrowed slightly, the charm fading from his face. He circled the table slowly. “I think you do,” he said. “See, the evidence says you were there. Witnesses say you had a beef with Keller after he ratted you out on that fake ID scam. And now he’s dead. With your fingerprints on the murder weapon.”
Mark’s jaw tightened. “I didn’t kill him.” Lucifer stopped behind him. His voice lowered to a whisper, the air in the room suddenly thick with tension. “Are you scared yet?” Mark flinched. Chloe glanced at Lucifer, giving him a subtle but disapproving look. He flashed her an innocent smile, then turned his attention back to the suspect. “Because you should be,” Lucifer continued, now seated across from Mark, his fingers steepled under his chin.
