Henry had known Alex for as long as he could remember, or rather since first grade. His parents had moved him and his siblings to Austin Texas the summer before he started his first year of school. In classic 2000s coming-of-age movie fashion, kids turned away from Henry and didn’t allow him to sit with them until he reached the eighth seat in the bus. So that's how little six-year-old Henry found himself boarding a yellow school bus in a foreign place where kids made fun of his accent even though he thought theirs were funnier.
A small brown-haired boy with blue glasses that made his sparkling brown eyes look bigger than they ever should be moved over and patted the spot next to him. Offering it to Henry. He will always remember the bright toothy smile that the five-year-old gave him, and how it never seemed to die out.-
