Triton didn't know whether to feel horrified or relieved. He didn't know whether to trust Europa and Ganymede to properly take care of the kids. When did he start caring so much? And, why did he? This wasn't him..
Stars, blame Pluto for it. If he haven't tagged along that one day, maybe Triton wouldn't have been like this. But yet again, Triton could blame Pluto and still care. He could blame Ganymede, Io, Neptune—Hell—He could even blame Callisto!

Summary
Larissa, the most observant of her siblings, finally notices the bundle Neptune is currently carrying with his upper arms. “Neptune, what's that?”
He laughs, such a reaction always coming naturally to him. “I brought you guys a new playmate! He'll be entertaining you all when I'm not around due to orbital reasons!”
A chorus of cheers erupts from the moons, as they climb up his set of arms to see who their new playmate would be.
“What's their name?” asks Galatea, completely excited to play with the moon once he wakes up.
Neptune smiles, tilting his head. “Triton.”

“Oh, I don’t need anything, Earth. I just wanted to talk to you! Wouldn’t it be so boring if we didn’t talk to each other?” Neptune twirled in mid-air as he said the last part of his sentence, drifting to a stop against a couple asteroids. “Uranus is busy trying to make sure Jupiter and Saturn don’t go ~crazy~ in their orbits. Well, Jupiter mostly, but where Jupiter goes, so does Saturn!” His lopsided grin grew bigger, one eye closing - Earth just stared, his eyebrows raised.
“O-kay,” he said after another moment, looking to the side to see if Luna was hearing the same thing. Luna just had a funny look on his face, brows knit, lips parted slightly in confusion. “About what?”
“What?” Neptune blinked at him again.
Or; The orbits don't return to normal... and Earth gets used to his new orbit, and Neptune.

"Your hair's so soft," he quietly commented as the thought came to him. He didn't realize he said that out loud for a moment, not until Luna replied.
"Oh, thank you," they responded. Triton was glad they couldn't see the blush forming in his face. Triton cleared his throat and his hands abruptly left their hair. "Actually... can you put it up in a ponytail?" they requested.
"Uh, sure," Triton answered. He looked around his room for a moment before spotting a spare hair tie discarded on the nightstand. He shifted his position a little and reached for it before returning to Luna. He collected their thick hair with a few swipes of his hand and tied it off, sitting up on his knees and planting a quick kiss into their hair once he finished it. Luna let out a little chuckle in response.

"Yeah, hold on," he said first, getting up after Luna adjusted themself off of him. He turned over and slipped off his sunglasses, placing them on the nightstand before sitting upright and pulling off his shirt.
"You said Earth's 'gonna kill you'?" Luna suggested, with the barest edge of teasing in their voice.
"I sleep shirtless, dumbass." Triton rolled his eyes before getting up to discard of it into the laundry basket in his bathroom. When he returned, Luna already started to get themself comfortable, pulling the blankets over themself. They let him flop onto the bed on top of them, a huff escaping their lips at the sudden weight. Triton already felt the exhaustion from their activities together and taking care of the kids start to work through his body. Luna shifted him a little higher on them and he watched them study the scars on his torso through lidded eyes. They ran their fingertips over them, tracing the shape of them gently. The affectionate action helped him relax in their hold, his body feeling a little heavier as he nestled his face into the crook of Luna's neck and their arms loosely held him by the waist.

“No, you didn’t forget. The earthlings just discovered them. They didn’t have names until today.” That was the truth. At least, Triton had never seen them around before.
Neptune sniffled, finally looking at Triton. “So my memory’s not getting worse?”
Triton gripped his arm. “Let’s check. What were the names of the two new moons?”
“S/2002 N-5 and S/2021 N-1.” Neptune answered effortlessly. His head perked up when he realized what he just said.
Triton chuckled. “There you go. Your memory’s still good.”
Neptune smiled, and threw his arms around Triton. Triton stared at the wall, surprised, but not mad. He awkwardly hugged his planet back.“I love you.” Neptune said suddenly. “I love you and the kids so much- my moons are the only thing that makes me want to remember anything at all.” The captured dwarf pursed his lips. Damn. He didn’t think of himself as someone worth remembering, but Neptune really loved him. And he knew he didn’t mean “I love you” romantically.
“I love you, too.” Triton responded. Never in his life did he think he would be saying that to Neptune, or anyone for that matter.
“And the kids?”
“And the kids.” Neptune and the other moons weren’t “like” his family, they were his family.Neptune pulled away. “I can take my medicine.” Triton gave him the pill and the glass of water. Neptune threw his head back, dropping the pill in, and immediately swallowed the water. “Uh, you can go to your dwarf planet friends, now.” He lied down on the bed and covered himself in blankets.
Triton watched Neptune and considered it. The dwarf planets would be fine without him for one evening. He remained sitting on the edge of the bed. “I think I’ll stay here a little longer.”

Everyone loves to say that all the crazy stuff started when Neptune asked “Why does Saturn have rings?” Although it’s fair to believe that, I don’t think we can really blame Neptune. He wasn’t trying to cause anything, was just curious. There was nothing malicious, but there was someone who did… Earth. When he met Titan, he got self-conscious, and said “Moons should know their place”, which would lead to Titan and co starting the moon revolution, moon club, system trials, Planet X, Theia, ect. But what if… he never said that? Would the tensions already around the moons still cause a revolution? Would Planet X ever return to the solar system? Would Earth face the memories of Proto and Theia? If so, how would they change? Here is my take.
